Ben Affleck has confirmed that his real penis was shown in the infamous nude scene in the hit movie, Gone Girl.

The 51-year-old actor starred alongside Rosamund Pike in the film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn.

In the popular flick, author Amy Dunne (played by Pike) suddenly vanishes from the scene, causing the cops to presume that her husband Nicholas (portrayed by Affleck) is behind it.

It emerged as a commercial success at the box office, grossing $369 million worldwide against a $61 million budget, becoming director David Fincher's highest-grossing film.

One of the most talked-about moments in the film is a brief moment of nudity where, if you look closely enough, you can see Affleck's package.

The 53-year-old Gone Girl author spoke about full-frontal nudity during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2014, saying: "It is so quick. Maybe you see it, maybe you don't."

"I laughed because there were all these things being said about his full frontal and I was like, 'That is not the definition of full frontal, my friends,'" she continued.

"That was a man getting into a shower. I expect to see a lot more when people call it full frontal. I was like, 'I wrote this book and this film and I saw the dailies and I don't remember a full frontal,'" she said, adding that she appreciated Affleck's commitment to his craft.

"Maybe they went off script there. But I appreciate [Ben's] commitment to the authenticity of a man getting into a shower. Man, you committed," she concluded.

The Good Will Hunting star spoke about the nude filming process, expressing gratitude to the director for "the way he treated me".

"In particular, we had a shower scene in the movie. And David assured me, because trust is essential with directors and actors: 'Listen, if we tilt down we will never go far enough to see anything.' So thank you, David," he said.

"And I'd like to thank you for keeping the set cool. Because if you are gonna have one chance for America to see your junk you want it to be cold. It's a real gift," he added.

The actor's ex-wife Jennifer Garner, whom he married in 2005, also addressed the discussion surrounding Affleck's junk during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014.

The 52-year-old quipped: "What I have to say is - you’re welcome...You know, I try to consider myself a charitable person and I wanted to give back."

Garner recounted the moment Affleck came home and told her about the shower scene, sharing: "It was a discussion. It was like 'Hey, um at work today [director David] Fincher talked me into coming out of the shower.'"

"And I was like, 'Cool, well I hope he had on a wide lens,'" the mom-of-three joked.
