Longlevens celebrating after Pokémon Primary Schools' Cup triumph at Derby County, with Wembley trip to come

Longlevens Junior School have completed the first half of what they hope will be a national double by lifting the Pokémon Primary Schools' Cup final at Derby County's Pride Park on Friday afternoon.

They qualified from their group with a win and two draws, setting up a semi-final against Meadows, which they won 1-0.

Their opponents in the final were St Peter's from Billericay and the Gloucestershire team won 3-0 to lift the cup and officially become the best primary school team in the country.

Their coach, teacher Matt Jeynes said: "It's a fabulous achievement for the boys. To win a national competition that started in September is a huge achievement for the kids, their families and the school.

"We are really proud of all of them and they have one more game to hopefully finish the season in the style."

The squad now travel to Wembley to represent Cheltenham Town against Port Vale on Saturday, just before the League One play-off between Oxford United and Bolton Wanderers kicks off.
