INDIANAPOLIS - The UConn baseball team (30-21, 15-4 BIG EAST) clinched a share of its fourth-straight BIG EAST regular season title with a 10-9 victory at Butler (20-33, 5-14) on a drizzly Thursday afternoon at Bulldog Park.

The Huskies jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Luke Broadhurst and Maddix Dalena each hitting a two-run home run. Bryan Padilla added an RBI single as the Huskies sent 10 batters to the plate.

The Bulldogs though responded right away with a five-spot of their own in the bottom half of the first.

UConn reclaimed the lead in the fourth after back-to-back hits from Broadhurst and Korey Morton placed runners at second and third. A wild pitch from Christian Finnigan allowd Broadhurst to score and make it 6-5.

Jake Studley added to the lead with his 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the fifth to make it 8-5.

After Butler plated a pair in the bottom half of the fifth, Padilla was at it again. Delivering a two-run double to push the lead back to three, 10-7.

Gabe Van Emon came out of the pen and walked the tight rope but was able to keep the Huskies ahead, throwing 3.0 innings, allowing one earned run and struck out seven.

Van Emon exited in the eighth with the Huskies leading 10-9 but the tying run at first base. LHP Braden Quinn entered out of the bullpen and retired all three batters he faced to strand the tying run at third base.

The New Fairfield, Conn. native returned for the ninth and posted a 1-2-3 frame to secure his third save of the year and give UConn its 30th win of the season.
