DFW weather updates: Check your flight status, power outages here

Severe storms brought hail, wind and flooding to parts of North Texas on Thursday.

DALLAS — North Texas was likely to see severe weather Thursday, as storms ramped up across the area in the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Severe threats included large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out as well.

Six Flags Over Texas has announced they are closing for Thursday due to inclement weather. Any tickets bought for today will be valid for any regular operating day through Jan. 3, 2024. Scream Break tonight is also cancelled. 

North Texas Power Outages 

If there are power outages in North Texas, they'll show up on the Oncor power outage map. You can also report your local outages through the map.

Flight delays, cancellations 

We'll be monitoring any flight cancellations and delays at Dallas Love Field Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Here's how you check your flight status and the latest delays and cancellations:

The ground stop at Dallas Love Field has been lifted.

School impacts 

Here are the school impacts we're seeing, so far:

- Aledo ISD in Parker County canceled after-school activities and events Thursday due to the severe weather. The canceled events include Destination Night, which will be rescheduled.

- The University of North Texas issued an alert to let students and staff know about the tornado watch. Campus officials asked the campus community to make sure they know their shelter location, in the event they need it.

- Plano ISD has cancelled after-school and evening in-district activities for Thursday. PASAR after-school care will operate normal business hours. 

- Rockwall ISD says only qualifying events like athletics and drill will be held this afternoon and evening, while all other non-essential events are cancelled due to the severe weather forecast. 

- Allen ISD has cancelled all after-school activities and events for Thursday due to the severe weather forecast, including Destination Night, which will be rescheduled. More info can be found here.
