The Royal College of Music (RCM) is seeking an Orchestra Manager to lead the delivery of the orchestra and large ensemble performance programme. The role is based within the Performance & Programming team and involves working closely with students, staff, professors and orchestral musicians.

Key duties include:
– Managing and delivering the RCM’s orchestral and large ensemble performance calendar
– Managing student placements
– Engaging preparation conductors and sectional tutors
– Attending visiting conductors at the RCM
– Maintaining RCM relationships with professional musicians and orchestras

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in an orchestral environment, excellent organisation and communication skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload. The postholder will be required to work proactively and creatively on a large variety of different projects running simultaneously, maintain a high level of attention to detail and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. A strong working knowledge of classical music and associated performance requirements is desirable.
