SPARTANBURG, S.C.
 – The Southern Conference Hall of Fame week continues Tuesday, as the league will announce one member of the 2024 induction class each day from May 13-17. Terry Holland, who served in three different capacities at Davidson, is the next to join the class of 2024.

Student-athletes who competed for a minimum of two seasons in the Southern Conference were eligible for consideration, along with coaches and administrators who spent at least five years in the league. A pool of more than 200 candidates from the conference’s current and former member institutions were nominated for consideration. The pool of former student-athletes, coaches and administrators was cut down to 40 individuals who comprised the final ballot. A voting panel of 19 media members and league administrators along with fan voting made the selection of the induction class.

Terry Holland had stints as a player, coach and athletic director at Davidson, competing as a player from 1961-64 and coaching from 1969-74. He served as Davidson’s Athletic Director from 1990-94.

During his playing days, Holland scored over 1,000 points. He concluded his standout career ranked among Davidson’s top five in scoring and rebounding. He led the SoCon in field-goal percentage in the 1963-64 season (63.1%) and was a second-team all-conference selection. Davidson went 22-4 during his senior year in 1963-64, where the Wildcats achieved their first-ever top 10 national ranking.

Following his playing career, Holland served as an assistant coach under SoCon Hall of Famer Lefty Driesell for five years before taking over as the head coach in 1969. In his five seasons at the helm, Holland was named SoCon Coach of the Year three times (1970-72) and led the Wildcats to an NCAA and NIT Tournament berth.

After spending 16 years at Virginia, the Clinton, North Carolina, native returned to his alma mater to become the athletic director. He oversaw Davidson’s re-entry into the SoCon in 1992 and helped bring the NCAA Soccer Championship to the school.

In 2022, Holland’s jersey was retired at Davidson.
