'EastEnders' recasts Mitchell teens.

EastEnders has announced recasts for two characters - as the children of Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) become central characters.

Janet and Will Mitchell have been in EastEnders since 2006 and 2007 respectively, but have remained largely in the background, never really receiving much focus. That is all set to change, as the characters turn 18 and 17 respectively.

Janet was born with Downs Syndrome in September 2006, and is now set to be played by Bethany Asher. Bethany has had guest roles in the likes of Casualty and Doctors, and is excited for her first major role - as she steps into the shoes of Janet. Sadly, this means that actress Grace, who has played the role since her birth in 2006, will be vacating the role.

It is thought that soap bosses want to give Janet some more grown-up stories, as they focus on her finding her way in the world - something which has not yet been explored with the character.

Similarly, Janet's little brother Will is set to be recast. Played by Freddie Phillips since 2015, Will is a blank canvas - so when Phoenix Rise star Fintan Buckard takes on the role, the character is set to be fleshed out a lot more.

Little is known about Will thus far, and bosses are tipped to be eager to show off his personality and fully flesh him out. Little is being said about what stories he will be leading, but with few characters in his age range, surely something will have to change?

The changes come following a tricky time for the family unit; as Billy's estranged dad Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford) rocked up in Walford after 26 years. This also follows the death of Janet and Will's niece Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold), who succumbed to a brain tumour in an emotional storyline.

Happiness may be on the horizon, as Billy and Honey have recently gotten engaged - and it has been confirmed that Alan Ford has been made a regular, meaning Stevie will be sticking around in Walford.

EastEnders confirms return for Max Branning - and he's not alone.

EastEnders has confirmed that Max Branning is set to return to Walford as Jake Wood reprises his role ahead of the show's 40th anniversary next year, but he won't be alone - as he brings his teenage son Oscar with him.

Max was last seen in 2021, when the legendary character bowed out after 15 years. His final storyline saw him be ditched by lover Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) following an affair hated by the audience; he kidnapped granddaughter Abi and fled. Now, Max will return - oblivious to the fact that Linda's daughter Annie is his child.

And as if the presence of Max's eldest daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) on the Square wasn't enough, Max will be bringing his son Oscar Branning, who turns 17 at the end of the year.

Tearaway Oscar is being billed as a new friend for Will Mitchell (Fintan Buckard), and is described as a cheeky but hot-headed teen who likes to think of himself as a ladies man, though he is far from it, and his flirting often gets him into trouble. Oscar has been sent to live with Max as he has gone off the rails, leaving his mother Tanya (Jo Joyner) struggling to look after him. Heartstopper lead Kit Connor has been cast in the role of Oscar.

What awaits Max and Oscar when they return to the Square remains to be seen, but fans should expect fireworks as secrets are revealed and tempers flare: and the comeback of Max and Oscar is just the start of some old faces returning to the Square.

EastEnders casts new five-strong family.

EastEnders is set to introduce a new five-strong family in the coming months.

The Buckley family will arrive in Walford in the summer, as a new era begins for the BBC's hit soap opera. Headed by two stars who are no stranger to soaps, the Buckleys are set to receive some exciting storylines - and will quickly turn heads.

Cristian Solimeno, famed for playing bad boy Jason Turner on iconic 2000s drama series Footballers' Wives, will play the dad of the family, Chris Buckley - with ex-Hollyoaks publican Kim Tiddy playing his wife Carrie. Chris and Carrie have been together for years, having endured a long marriage that hasn't been without its troubles, and they have three children together. Chris is described as "dominant, suave and charming - but with a wandering eye", while Carrie is "glamorous and snobby, a woman who likes the finer things in life and likes to look down her nose at others".

Their eldest son Brandon will be played by former Hollyoaks star Adam Woodward, who played Brody Hudson for 4 years between 2017 and 2021, before being sensationally killed off. Brandon (30) is a "cheeky chappie, a hunky womaniser and one of life's nice guys" - but, like his father, he is prone to making mistakes. He is a simple fella, liking nothing more than a pint down the pub with the lads, watching the footie - and if he can get a kebab and a bunk-up at the end of the night, "job's a good'un"!

His younger brother is brooding hunk Joshua 'Josh' Buckley, played by another ex-Hollyoaks star - Aedan Duckworth. Josh is fun-loving, he's quite mysterious and keeps his cards close to his chest. Josh is quite open about his sexuality, he doesn't care about who he is sleeping with and will flirt with anybody - but his father Chris isn't too keen on Josh's tendency to sleep with the same sex. Josh, however, is quite carefree about it. He will set Walford ablaze when he arrives this summer and quickly beds down with a few of the local residents - but who will catch his eye?

The final member of the family is only daughter Megan Buckley. "Stuck-up", "bitchy" and "a bit of an ice queen", Megan doesn't make friends easily - she has the ultimate resting bitch face and doesn't suffer fools. She's the apple of her father's eye, and is the daughter he always wanted. Megan was born quite soon after Josh - he was 10 months old when she came into the world - and so the pair squabble a lot, they are almost like twins! Played by Get Even star Jessica Alexander, Megan is "one to watch" as the Buckleys descend on Albert Square.

"I cannot wait for viewers to welcome the Buckley family to Walford" said producer Ooh I Say, "They're fun, sexy, energetic and something a little different. They quickly settle into the local area and it won't be long before they're causing trouble, involving themselves in our favourites' lives - and are involved in some pretty meaty storylines."

Viewers can expect the family to arrive in the summer: it's the heat is definitely rising in Albert Square...

Ender the Line: Exits confirmed for three characters.

EastEnders has confirmed the upcoming exit of three characters.

Matt Di Angelo, Tony Clay and Clair Norris have all left their roles, it has been announced.

Di Angelo, 37, has played evil rapist Dean Wicks on and off since 2006. He returned for his most recent stint in October 2023, introduced to the line-up of suspects for The Six murder mystery when he returned to torment his victim Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), and as the business partner of recently-returned Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). Dean survived Christmas, however, becoming involved in a Munchausens by Proxy plot with daughter Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green). When the Six framed Dean for the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), he was imprisoned - but it's been confirmed that Matt has filmed his final scenes, and will leave the show in the next few weeks. There's one more appearance to come from him, however...

While that departure may not come as a shock, the next two might.

Detective Callum Highway (Tony Clay) has been a mainstay on the soap since January 2018, when he was introduced as the gormless family friend of the Carters. Over the previous few years, his storylines have seen him come out as gay after an affair with Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) behind the back of his fiancée Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) - a relationship which led to Ben and Callum, dubbed 'Ballum', marrying in 2021. Their marriage ended earlier this year, when the character of Ben was axed - and Callum has been floating ever since. However, he is finally set to leave the Square after six years, though Callum's exit storyline is being kept under wraps.

The final departure announced tonight is that of café waitress Bernadette Taylor (Clair Norris). She was written into the soap as part of the brand new Taylor family in 2017, and later came out as a lesbian after a crush on best friend (and future sister-in-law) Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith). Following the discovery of her brother Keanu's body, Bernie has struggled - and it has been announced that she will depart Walford following his funeral. While this may make fans question the impact Keanu's murder will have on Walford, viewers are being warned to "expect a twist in the tale" - will somebody close to Keanu be making a comeback in Bernie's place?

"It's always sad to say goodbye to character" said OIS, "Especially characters who are as long-lasting as these three. However, we feel that all three characters have reached the end of their time on the Square, and would be better served by exiting than languishing in the background. Bernadette has finally come into her own, so it was tricky to work out whether she should leave, but I ultimately felt that there was no way she would stick around in Walford with her family gone and Keanu dead... so it was time for her to leave."

It has not been confirmed when Bernadette or Callum will depart, but it has been said that Dean's departure is "imminent".

EastEnders confirms return for Louise and Courtney Mitchell.

EastEnders is bringing back two Mitchells, it has been announced.

Following the departures of Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) and Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold), the iconic Mitchell family have been a little thin on the ground, especially when it comes to female Mitchells - but that is all about to change, as two legacy characters come home to roost.

Tilly Keeper and Alice Nokes will reprise their roles as cousins Louise and Courtney Mitchell, the children of legendary Walford hardmen Phil (Steve McFadden) and Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) respectively.

Tilly played Louise between 2016 and 2020, and her storylines saw her involved in bullying Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield), suffering severe burns and a relationship with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) which left her pregnant - unaware that Keanu was having an affair with her step-mother Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean). Louise then left in January 2020 with mum Lisa (Lucy Benjamin) and daughter Peggy, who both returned for a stint last year, but will not be returning alongside Louise. Since living out in Portugal, Louise has bonded with her cousin Courtney, and the pair are like sisters - though the recent death of her ex-fiancé Keanu devastated her.

Courtney has never been a regular on the show, despite being the product of legends Grant and Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon). Born in 1997, she left in 1999 before returning between 2005-2006 and once more in 2016, now played by Alice. Despite only appearing as Courtney for a few episodes, Alice Nokes will reprise her role, described as "a blank canvas". Courtney is "fun and feisty", she's much akin to her late mother Tiffany. She isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in and is very moral - not your typical Mitchell! Since being in Portugal, Courtney finished her degree, and is now working as a paralegal. While you may expect Phil to hate having a lawyer in the family, he's actually thrilled - believing she will be a strong presence in the family should they come into any more legal troubles.

Courtney and Louise will quickly become involved with other younger characters such as Gina and Anna Knight (Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford), Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine), and newcomers Josh Buckley (Aedan Duckworth), Megan Buckley (Jessica Alexander) and Seth Knight (Joshua John).

"The Mitchell family has felt a little stale for a while, so we felt it important to spruce them up a bit. We are focusing on the next generation of Mitchells - Louise and Courtney, alongside teenagers Janet [Bethany Asher] and Will [Fintan Buckard]. Louise and Courtney have so much potential, but are pretty blank canvases - so we are going to really learn what makes them tick. The future is bright for the Mitchells..."

It is currently unknown why Lisa and Peggy aren't present, but this will be explained.

It has today been confirmed that Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) has been promoted to a regular, and will be sticking around on the Square following her guest stint. Actress Patsy Palmer has been handed a 12-month contract, and has relocated to the UK in order to remain filming the BBC soap opera. BIG EPISODE FOR:
Reiss Colwell

Bianca is glum following Whitney’s departure, and has spent the weekend locked away in Sonia’s spare room. Sonia manages to coax her down for breakfast, but Reiss puts his foot in it by trying to make light of the situation – Bianca snaps at him and storms off. Suki has been recovering at home, having suffered an accident at work which left her with her leg in cast. Eve is waiting on her hand and foot, but Suki isn’t used to it, and has been growing annoyed by Eve’s fussing. Outside, a figure lurks, watching the Panesar house. At No.31, Freddie is enjoying being back in the thick of the Slater family’s action – even if the house does remind him of Theo. Jean notices him struggling and offers some advice, telling him that Theo is gone and they are putting that whole sorry mess behind them. Smiling, Freddie agrees. Kat is on her way to the taxi office when she sees Bianca in the Square gardens, and approaches her. She asks her friend if she is okay, and Bianca just breaks down. Peter heads into The Minute Mart, where Lauren is staring longingly at a bottle of vodka. Peter asks if she’s considering drinking again, but Lauren says she isn’t – she just finds it gives her strength to carry on if she reminds herself that she faces temptation every day, but doesn’t cross that line. Peter calls Lauren ‘brave’ and ‘strong’, saying that she’s a better woman than she gives herself credit for. The pair share a moment, witnessed by Cindy as she walks past the shop. Vinny is struggling at the café following Bianca’s resignation, and asks Bernie if she can work a double shift today. Bernie says that she can’t, as she needs to finish planning Keanu’s funeral – she reminds Vinny that she lost her brother recently. Vinny says he knows how it feels to lose a brother, and he is sorry for putting so much pressure on her. Bernie thanks him. Bianca tells Kat that she hates herself for tarnishing her relationship with Whitney – she never should have hid Zack and Lauren’s one night stand from her. Kat questions why she did it, and Bianca admits that she was scared of being the one to ruin Whitney’s happiness. Kat says that sometimes you have to hurt a loved one to show you love them. She promises Bianca that Whitney will come round. With a smile on her face, Bianca thanks Kat – but her smile quickly fades as she questions whether she’s going to have to go back to Milton Keynes alone. Kat says that she sees no reason why Bianca can’t stick around in Walford for good – however, Bianca is distracted when she sees Monique and Junior leaving The Vic together. Freddie and Bobby meet for a coffee in the café, and Freddie asks Bobby the likelihood of him getting his job at the chippy back. Bobby says he’d love to have Freddie working with him again – he’s missed his best mate. Freddie questions if Bobby is still hurt about his night with Anna, but Bobby insists that it’s behind them – he doesn’t want to lose his best friend over a girl, even if he and Anna are going strong. Freddie says that he’s glad Bobby and Anna have made a go of things. He then sees Alfie entering the café, and makes a beeline for him. Sonia heads to work at the surgery, and is greeted by the new surgery manager, Rob. Rob is charming and friendly; he tells Sonia that he’s excited to get to know her. Sonia is clearly taken with Rob. Reiss, meanwhile, notices that The Arches is closed once again, and heads to Sharon’s. He tells her that it’s the third time in the past 7 days that he’s seen the garage closed, and says it’s bad for business. Sharon snaps that in case he missed it, her ex-fiancé – the garage’s manager – was found dead, so she’s got nobody to run the business. Reiss comments that if Sharon can’t run the garage, maybe she should sell up – she’s losing her money by letting the Arches rot. Sharon is left with food for thought. On his stall, Martin and Shrimpy discuss Whitney’s exit. Martin says that Zack is trying to sort himself out, but Shrimpy comments that he saw Zack arriving home early hours of the morning after going out on both Friday and Saturday night. Martin admits that Zack also went out last night, and stayed out all night. Overhearing, Penny says that clearly Zack likes to put it about a bit – it didn’t take him long to move on from Whitney. Martin says that Zack’s just lost his daughter, and urges her to be compassionate, but Penny comments that nobody is giving Lauren any compassion. Lauren walks in on the conversation, and tells the trio that she’d appreciate not being the subject of gossip. Penny calls out for her as Lauren walks off, and gives chase. Freddie tells Alfie that the whole point of him leaving the flat was so that Kat and Alfie could remain closer together. Alfie sighs and tells Freddie to drop it, but Freddie swears that by New Year’s Eve, he’ll have reunited them – he’s well-known for being a bit of a Cupid. Alfie appreciates his optimism, but feels it is misplaced. Ravi heads round to the Panesars’ to visit Nugget and Avani during half-term, and suggests that they could come and stay at his a few nights this week. Avani is up for it but Nugget is unsure, just mumbling that him and Denzel have plans. Priya scoffs – Ravi lives across the road, so Nugget can still do what he wants with his little boyfriend. Denzel snaps at Priya for calling Denzel his boyfriend; when Ravi defends Priya and calls his son ‘Nugget’, Nugget snaps once again and says he hates the nickname Nugget – it’s a crappy nickname given to him by his grandad, who he also hates. Priya and Ravi are confused by Davinder’s reaction, but the doorbell rings, interrupting the conversation. Suki goes to the door, having been in the kitchen, and swings it open to find Nish on her doorstep – her smile falters and she quickly closes the door with her crutch, slamming it in Nish’s face. Eve asks who was at the door, and a shellshocked Suki turns to face Eve and shakes her head. Bianca heads over to The Vic, wanting to talk to Junior, but she sees him with Monique and Xavier, and swerves them. Linda asks Bianca how Whitney is getting on, and Bianca barks that she doesn’t know – they’re not exactly on speaking terms. Questioning what is wrong, Linda is concerned – but Bianca goes quiet and says that it’s complicated. She says that she wanted to speak to Junior, but he’s clearly preoccupied, and leaves. Linda is confused about what Bianca wants with Junior. Cindy is working in Beale’s Eels when Peter enters in a good mood. Cindy comments on the moment she oversaw this morning, but Peter insists it’s nothing – he and Lauren are on good terms for Louie and that’s that. Cindy isn’t convinced, but simply says that she’d like to see Louie around a little more, as she feels she’s barely seen him. Peter says that he’s having Louie on Wednesday and Friday night, as it’s half-term. Cindy smiles. Vinny heads home from the café on his break, and is shocked to find Nish standing outside the house, keeled over and coughing. Despite his feelings towards Nish, Vinny rushes to his aid, and helps him stand up. Nish insists he is fine, but Vinny can sense that something is wrong and – against his better judgement – takes Nish inside. Suki and Eve are horrified to see Nish with Vinny, as are Ravi and Priya. Avani and Davinder remain neutral. Eve questions why Vinny has bought him inside, and Vinny says that whatever Nish has done, he’s still his dad. Ravi scoffs and says that Nish is no father of his. Penny tells Lauren that she is sorry, she was defending her and hates hearing everybody talk badly of her. Lauren snaps that she deserves it – she ruined Whitney’s life. Penny shakes her head – Zack ruined Whitney’s life, not Lauren. Lauren frets that she is just as bad as her father – she swore she would never be like him, but this is the second time. Penny is confused; she asks Lauren what she means, and Lauren opens up about her affair with Jake Stone. Penny is stunned. Reiss arrives at No.23, and realises that Sonia has left her lunch on the table. He picks it up. Sharon heads to the Arches and opens it up, heading inside. She sits down at the desk and begins to tear up, realising that the garage reminds her of Keanu. Freddie watches Bobby and Anna kissing outside of The Vic, and sadly sighs. He heads into No.31, where Jean asks if he fancies getting lunch with her and Harvey. Freddie agrees. Reiss runs Sonia’s lunch over to the GP surgery, and speaks to the surgery receptionist. The receptionist calls Sonia over, and Sonia thanks Reiss for bringing her lunch in – she was going to pop over and grab it on her break. However, Reiss is stunned as he comes face-to-face with the surgery’s new manager, Rob. Reiss pales. Sonia asks if he is okay, and turns to see Rob. Rob smiles and says it’s good to see Reiss – Reiss asks what he is doing here. As Sonia asks what is going on, the receptionist calls out to Rob – telling him that his next patient is here. However, what stuns Sonia, is that she calls Rob ‘Dr Colwell’. Rob tells Reiss that they need to talk, but Reiss storms out. Sonia follows, demanding to know who Rob is – Reiss tells Sonia that Rob is his brother. Sonia is stunned. Back at the Panesars’, Suki warns Nish that he has thirty seconds to be out of her house. Nish scoffs – this is his house too, but Eve jumps in and tells Nish that he has nothing. He’s a nasty excuse of a man and they’d all be better off if he was dead. Nish says that they won’t have to wait too long, and Ravi asks what he means. Nish takes a deep breath and tells the family that he’s been diagnosed with a brain tumour – he has six months left to live. As the Panesars reel, Nish’s facial expression is steely and unmoved, as he takes in all of his family members’ individual reactions…

EastEnders confirms casting of Holby City and The Bill legend Alex Walkinshaw.

EastEnders introduced a new character in its latest episode, as Holby City star Alex Walkinshaw joined the cast.

Pregnant nurse Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) was pleased to be introduced to the GP surgery's new manager Rob early on in the episode, and was clearly charmed by the newcomer's bedside manner. However, a twist came at the end of the episode, when Sonia's boyfriend Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) entered the surgery and clearly had history with the dashing doctor. Rob was then referred to as 'Dr Colwell', and Reiss revealed to a stunned Sonia that Rob was his brother - leaving fans shocked.

It has now been confirmed that Alex, 49, has joined the soap on a full-time basis as Reiss' brother Dr Rob Colwell - and he will be causing trouble for Sonia and Reiss.

"There's a chequered history between Reiss and Rob" said Alex in his first interview since joining the show, "He's confident, he's a charmer, he's good at talking to people and knowing what to say - the complete opposite of socially-awkward Reiss. But there's some secrets in the Colwell brothers' past, and it's led to a bitter bond between the pair."

Rob has some children and an ex-wife out there in the world, but whether they will be joining the show is yet to be announced.

A fan fic in 2024! Any bold plans ahead or is it going to stay more closer to the show ?

Trust you to come back from the dead just to stick your oar in!
Aedan Duckworth looks so good right now, it'd be a waste not to cast him! 😂

Casting Carrie was hard tbh. I have had a bit of a random idea for her, but I'm unsure if it works, so I'm still deliberating it 😂 She's going to be an icon, though. And I can see the Megan/Liv comparison. Miss my girlie Olivia Sharp :(

I think it'll seem quite close to the show initially but then I do plan to deviate quite a lot. I plan to give focus to some underused characters in particular - the Beales, Chelsea, Ravi, Martin, etc. Still planning out some big, long-running storylines that I have in my head, but I'm excited!

Babes I have a cruel 9-5 now which is why I dropped off the face of the Earth bye but I am always here for an OIS fan fic

I have had a few ideas of mine own (not any good ones) but I don’t watch EE much anymore/I think the show is in a good state and don’t think I could write much better tbf

Aedan .. idk I hate the facial hair and remember the flop Young family omg ..

Caleb Young was a moment tho I even thought about him the other week ..

Olivia Sharp never got to live up to what she was meant to be and her and Dotty’s lesbian enemies to lovers angst was gonna serve

I’m so intrigued by this weird idea for Carrie

I prefer when fics deviate tbh because it makes them more interesting and I like when they have some personality to them

Only cos you like to rip apart everything I do, in the name of love ofc 😭

Actually wanna know your ideas tbh, miss all the beef I can't lie. Chrissie and Ariel Riley beefing everyone was the highlight of 2021.

Shut it, you enjoyed Aaron, Caleb and (eventually) Hannah Young! And Eva was going to be a serve when she started pushing girlies off the Albert balcony. I feel I can never replicate Caleb Young, he was a king and I will never be able to recreate it.

I frequently think about Dotty and Liv's lesbian enemies to lovers when I am watching EastEnders. What could've been.

Yeah this fic will deviate, I just need a little bit of time to tie up loose ends. I've already been planning gruesome deaths for characters I dislike, Surprised by how small my axe list is to be honest, but then there's quite a few characters who are kind of inbetween - I am uhming and ahhing over whether to axe them. So it may be two waves of axings - the first wave, and then a second wave if I decide to bin any of the ones on my 'maybe' list.
