SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State outfielder Sam Canton, St. Thomas first baseman Max Nyrop, and Oral Roberts righthander Jakob Hall claimed the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week awards, League officials announced Monday. Canton and Nyrop, who shared the Peak Performer honor, earned the first weekly honors of their respective careers, while Hall earned his second of the season and third of his career.
 
Canton homered in all three games of NDSU's series win at South Dakota State, finishing 5-for-11 at the plate with eight RBI. The Port Orchard, Wash., helped the Bison move into second place in the League standings with the two victories over the Jackrabbits.

In NDSU's 11-8 victory in game one, Canton squared things up at 8-8 with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth inning. He had a go-ahead, three-run homer in the second inning of game two and a go-ahead, RBI-groundout in the fourth inning as NDSU prevailed 7-6.

Canton capped his strong weekend by going 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the 8-5 loss. By hitting safely in all three games, he extended his hitting streak to seven straight.

Nyrop helped the Tommies remain in first place in the League standings by taking two of three games at Omaha. The Alameda, Calif., native went 6-for-11 (.545) in the series with two home runs and seven RBI.

Nyrop put the Tommies ahead for good in game one, breaking a 1-1 tie with a two-run shot in the third inning as St. Thomas went on to post an 11-2 victory.

In a game-two loss, Nyrop recorded a season-high three hits and added two RBI. He capped his weekend by going 2-for-4 in the finale, including a seventh-inning, two-run blast that broke a 3-3 tie in a game the Tommies would go onto win 6-5.

With ORU needing to pile up wins down the stretch, Hall got ORU's sweep of Northern Colorado started in Friday's series opener, going seven strong innings. He allowed just one earned run on six hits as the Golden Eagles won their third straight series.

The Bartlesville, Okla., native struck out seven Bears and has now won four consecutive starts and has eight total wins on the season.
