Who must attend school? Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 392.040 requires that all children between the ages of 7 years and 18 years must enroll and attend school. What to do if a student is absent. A written note including the student's name, student number, dates and reason for absence, and parent signature must be turned into the school's Attendance Office within three days of returning from an absence. What is the limitation of absences? The limitation of absences is seven (7) total unexcused absences during a semester for Clark High School students. What are the consequences for exceeding the limitation of absences? Students may be issued a denial of credit notification for any course in which the limitation of absences has been exceeded. A secondary student may also be retained in the grade in accordance with minimum credit requirements for each grade level. Parents have the right to appeal any denial of credit as outlined in CCSD Regulation 5113. Students with excessive unexcused absences are subject to misdemeanor citation for Truancy.
