Despite his success and popularity, celebrated playback singer Arijit Singh, leads a simple life. Recently, the “Tum Hi Ho” singer, along with his wife Koel Roy, took a break from the limelight to cast their votes at a polling booth in Jiaganj, his humble hometown in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Dressed in casual attire, the award-winning artist chose to ride a scooter to the GSFP School where the voting took place, with Koel riding pillion in her understated salwar-kameez.

As the “Vida Karo” hitmaker strolled through the narrow alley leading to the polling booth, local fans eagerly followed and documented the couple’s every move. After casting his vote, Arijit proudly displayed his inked finger to the crowd.

Arijit’s journey began in the very same town of Jiaganj, where he pursued his education at the local Sripat Singh College. Discovered through the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005, the now 37-year-old singer, made his Hindi film debut in 2011 with the song “Phir Mohabbat” for the film Murder 2. The same year, he sang hit songs such as “Raabta” from Agent Vinod, “Uska Hi Banana’ from ‘1920: Evil Returns”, and ‘Duaa’ from Shanghai. Currently, he is basking in the success of his song, “Vida Karo” from Amar Singh Chamkila, featuring Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role of the slain Punjabi singer.
