Enlivened by the antagonistic chemistry between Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin, Midnight Run is an uncommonly entertaining odd couple comedy.

Martin Chilton Daily Telegraph (UK) The interplay between the two leads is pure gold. Rated: 5/5 Jun 27, 2015 Full Review Michael Wilmington Los Angeles Times Who said movies always have to be original? This one is redeemed by execution and brilliant talent: De Niro, Grodin, director Martin Brest, composer Danny Elfman, most of the cast and technicians. Jul 30, 2013 Full Review Richard Schickel TIME Magazine A performance like De Niro's, in a well-made entertainment like Midnight Run, is cheap at any price. And capable of restoring the audience's faith in the form. Jul 30, 2013 Full Review Josh Larsen LarsenOnFilm Never has a movie belonged so wholly to its stars. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 7, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy An extremely satisfying action-comedy, and one that still hasn’t fully received its due. Rated: 3.5/4 May 31, 2023 Full Review Brian Susbielles InSession Film They are a funny pair who have to look over their shoulders for the shadowy people who have a piece at stake. It is less of a run and more of a duck-and-cover from all the bullets being fired. Feb 14, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Niki M Probably one of the most watchable movies ever made. The spark-striking chemistry between the two leads is pure gold, the supporting characters almost run away with the plot, and the personal pathos in the middle is as sharp as it is unexpected. This is De Niro at his finest. Grodin and Kotto don't do too badly either. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Yuval D one of De Niro best performances Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Ryan N I know many people will disagree with me, but this is my favorite DeNiro movie. His other movies are great but this one has stuck with me since I was a kid. I think this movie was the first time I saw DeNiro in a movie. I love the "buddy-type cop" theme. Plenty of action for that time and plenty of laughs. At first, I wanted to see this movie, I remember, cause I saw John Aston in the trailer and I loved him in Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2. The ride trip across the country was funny and had plenty of action. If you like buddy cop-themed movies then this is one for you. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Alec C This is one buddy comedy that goes everywhere and anywhere! A former cop-turned bounty hunter is tasked to retrieve an accountant and bring him back to L.A., only to run afoul with the FBI, Gangsters and one very unhappy mercenary. Brought together by the back and forth between De Niro and Grodin, this action-comedy manages to make people laugh everytime! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Alec B With a few exceptions, the movie is more low key than you'd expect with both De Niro and Grodin staying completely true to their Odd Couple-esque pairing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Giorgos A One of the greatest movies ever made. Very smart and touching! The dialogues and the plot are great!
