Cosmo TV was a Russian YouTuber who became infamous for uploading engagement bait YouTube Shorts and using them to become one of the fastest-growing channels in the site's history.

Overview[]

Cosmo TV created his account on December 7, 2023, and uploaded his first video on the same day. Initially, his profile picture and banner background was a shaded artwork with a circular blue background of Cosmo from the Nickelodeon show The Fairy OddParents. On January 25, 2024, it was changed to an AI-generated "realistic" version of Cosmo, complete with green hair and a wand, on a shaded blue circular background with sparkling effects.

His YouTube Shorts followed a simple pattern: Cosmo watches a YouTube Short with barely any views and no comments, on his iPhone. He subscribes to the channel, leaves a like on the video, then goes to share the video using the "More" option. However, the Short ends by jumping to Cosmo playing with a colorful flame app. As a result of this and incorporating an enticing upload title, this attracted mainly younger people to his channel, and he was able to gain a near-record 6.64 million subscribers while only getting 106.6 million views between January 2-9, 2024. Cosmo TV reached 10 million subscribers on January 12, 2024[1], only 36 days after creating his channel, effectively making the record for the fastest channel to reach 10 million unbreakable.[2] For the month of January 2024, Cosmo TV gained over 13.6 million subscribers, firmly taking the second-place spot for monthly subscriber growth.

On February 29, 2024, his YouTube channel was terminated for violating Community Guidelines, having gained over 15.4 million subscribers in its lifespan.
