Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Fantastic sound , a defining album that has been sampled so much, you recognise that this has influenced so much music of the 80s and 90s

I bought the vinyl 'x' years ago and just kept playing and playing..... but with the sands of time it drifted away into the sunset of my collection. Then I hear 'Double Dutch' being used as a backing track to a recent TV advert for a chocolate covered honeycomb sphere and I am once again hooked (not on the sweet but the music). So here I am now in the digital age listening to the CD and reminding myself of what fun this album was and still is.
This album is 30 year old and yet just seems so fresh to me.
For the 'world music purists' Malcolm McLaren may be guilty of being a rip-off merchant but this album is more than that. It is a polygot of tastes and genres that find themselves in a huge melting pot and with each serving McLaren dishes up a veritable culinary delight awaits the listener.
I could go through the listing and review each track but that would not be fair. If you have never heard this album then I would not wish to ruin the pleasure it will bring you and if you are familiar with it in vinyl and, like me, have not listened to it in over a decade then what are you waiting for?
If you cannot get someone to buy it for you for Christmas then treat yourself.

Overall this album is a mixed bag. The high points are undoubtedly the thrilling African guitar riffs and soaring harmonies of Double Dutch and Punk It Up. Some of the other songs, namely Duck for the Oyster and Merengue veer too close to novelty song territory and as a result don't reward repeated listening. Hiphop is used to provide some conceptual cohesion to the album and is interspersed effectively between the songs by The World Supreme Team, a couple of New York DJs who provide some entertaining chat over the beats and scratching. Buffalo Gals is the main hiphop track on the record and is a bit like the album, a bit silly, especially when Malcolm McLaren intones about line dancing, but performed with enough chutzpah to make it work.

Duck Rock Malcolm McLaren - Charisma Records Ltd. 1987 Marketed by Virgin MMCD1 256 908 PM 500
This CD has a very confusing track listing if you ever get round to ripping it for your MP3 player.
The original Vinyl and Audio Cassette version of Duck Rock has 12 tracks but the CD only lists 11, both on the CD itself and on the back cover of the artwork. When the CD is played it comes up with the original 12 track listing. Closer inspection of the artwork gives more detail of the tracks, 2 of which are only listed on the inner notes, EL SAN JUANERA and SHE'S LOOKING LIKE A HOBO, the latter being a scratch of a dance.
Anyway, the 12 track listing below will give you the correct rip titles with track 4, EL SAN JUANERA, being the one missing on the CD itself and on the back cover of the artwork. Double Dutch or what?

I first came across this album when a friend of mine from South Africa played it to me. Having loved the obvious African styles and the chart hits gave it it's first special 'feel'. The fact that it was produced to sound like a radio show was even more exciting. Once I saw it here, I knew I had to have the album.
Having a bluesy day? If you've got this, stick it on and it'll make your sun shine. If you haven't got it, I can only recommend it to you highly.

Some great music, but it does have Mr McLaren over the top of it (self-evident from the credits I suppose!)
This album features all four members of Art Of Noise.

Though Malcolm was mostly thought of as the power source behind The Sex Pistols he was an innovative artist in his own right.
He was way ahead of his time and quite a few of today's artists owe a lot to him......U2 for example.. Good stuff.

Great Album..I was about 13 when this came out and i grabbed it up at the local record store immediately. After that i started to collect all of the BRAIN CHILD Malcolm Mclaren's stuff..Had no idea at that age he was who he was..Do Ya Like Scratchin is still my favorite..Swamp thing had some interesting things on it..If you like this I think the two i mentioned should definitely be checked out..If your more into the Scratching "Do you like Scratching",,"Would you like more scratching" And "Round the outside" Swamp-thing had a little scratching, but nothing like those three..Oh by the way don't be fooled by Would you like more scratching,Its basically Do ya like scratchin with an extra bonus Instrumental track of the same name as the title..Pretty cool if your into some self mixing or scratching..Peace to all,,I'm out..

Duck Rock vs. Buffalo Gals - Back to Skool
Reviewed in Germany on 15 October 2015
Einfach mal selber testen... Ich habe es getan! :.-)
