"The Very Best...and Beyond" reúne 17 temas de la banda británico-estadounidense de AOR. Los tres primeros temas fueron nuevos y ninguno está mal, mientras los otros 14 proceden del período entre 1977 y 1987, siendo las mejores Cold As Ice, Head Games, Urgent, I Want to Know What Love Is y That Was Yesterday. No hay ninguna del álbum que grabaron sin Gramm en 1991. No está mal el recopilatorio, pero tienen mejores para estos menesteres y falta alguna imprescindible como Starrider. Foreigner don bastante potables y unos iconos de su generación.

- Temas destacables: I Want to Know What Love Is, That Was Yesterday, Head Games.

I didn't really know what to expect, slowly i began to realize how many of these guys songs i love! This is like every good radio song I heard growing up...great stuff, only a couple songs are kind of a let down, this is one of the best greatest hits albums out there! Made me a fan!

The 3 new songs: Soul Doctor (awesome), Prisoner of Love and With Heaven on Our Side are good and the rest are .... (not all) CLASSlCS!

Foreigner not only were a good album band, but released lots of magnificent singles too, which are all on this album (except "Long Long Way From Home" and "Blue Morning, Blue Day").

The three new songs on this compilation seemed to show, that Jones/Gramm would have lots of good things to record in the future, but the 1994 album Mr. Moonlight unfortunately fell short of my expectations.

A fun-enough AOR band with a very soulful vocalist, these guys ruled the airwaves in their day, but for the most part, nowadays I find them overplayed and not all that interesting any longer. This one's got all their classics, plus a few new ones. I do love the earlier stuff, the more guitar-rock vibe of Hot Blooded, Double Vision, Cold As Ice, Juke Box Hero, and Head Games, but I could never hear I Want To Know What Love Is or the dreadful Urgent ever again and not really be concerned. For your money, you'd be better served to the get the 2-disc collection released a few years back, as Foreigner had some much better rock tunes that never made it to the radio...

Foreigner were a great band as this collection will attest. I believe that "Feels Like The First Time" is an awesome rock number. Other standouts from this band include "Hot Blooded", "Cold As Ice" and "Double Vision".

This album is a testament to the popularity and range of Foreigner. The thing I found a little disappointing was that the longer they went on the more MOR they became. Even so, they produced some great tracks that were hits such as "Say You Will", "Urgent" and "I Want To Know What Love Is".

This collection covers some of the best that Foreigner have to offer and is worth investing in obtaining a copy.

Solid compilation covering the best of the band's past with a few new choice selections. Nice place to start for a fan who isn't familiar with the band... covers most of the eras well.

Mick Jones and Lou Gramm reunited for three new songs to kick off this excellent collection of Foreigner hits. "Soul Doctor" is a logical evolutionary step up from _Inside Information_ featuring Cheap Trick's Robin Zander on backing vocals, "Prisoner of Love" captures the _4_-era sound, yet has a fresh polish, and "Heaven on Our Side" solidifies the oft-reluctant balladeers as kings of the form. Some chick named Sheryl Crow provided backing vocals.

From there, it could be viewed as your garden-variety "Best of," if not for the fact that there's strength in numbers and when you gather this much well-written material on one disc, you end up with a testament of sorts. The first fifteen years of Foreigner are rivaled by few other bands and will always be held highly by me as a fan and a songwriter.
