Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing experience on the zip line trek!
Our instructors , Tom and Annie, were so friendly on arrival and throughout our experience , both made us all feel at ease, and made us all so welcome. The trek lasted approx 3 hours, and completed 6 zip lines, doing one of them twice, which was really fun due to one of the zip lines being out of order. The walking involved was fine and only a few sections that are uphill. We got driven to the top of the start due to the storms this weekend however usually it involves a 20 min walk up to the starting point. We all felt safe the whole time and the zip lines really give you amazing views of the forest and surroundings. Some zip lines go quite fast , of speeds up to 45mph, would recommend for any one of any age or families that enjoy something different , it was great from start to finish!

A truly magical insight into the life of such a wonderful human being. From all the artifacts and furniture inside the house to the gardens outside it was a truly wonderful experience and one I will treasure for a long time. The staff in the house and the gift shop were so lovely.

This is a delightful place and well equipped to satisfy young families or those wanting a walk or cycle trip that is more demanding, but on accredited tracks. I’ve visited the Lake District for years and always headed for the mountains, but yesterday we had a complete change and went to Grizedale Forest.

It’s facilities are excellent and the fact that they have considered so many age groups, and delivered, is to be applauded. The surrounding country is almost breathtakingly pretty, not as imposing as the mountains but quite different and equally beautiful. This won’t be an isolated visit.

Loved this little place, full of character. The guide was very informative of the history of the building, my son had a go at writing with a quill. We purchased a book on the history of the school and a quill and ink.

The gallery was very good and well worth a visit if in the area and a National Trust member but feel it is rather expensive if not. Gentlemen on door very informative so could get best out of experience. Authentic dressing of rooms. Very small areas so glad we went while quiet. Upstairs would be inaccessible to some as very narrow steep stairs. Pity had to pay for car parking too as not NT and toilets 50p to enter which isn’t visitor friendly. Classic tourist trap. Good selection shops to wander around to make visit worth the parking fee!

When we first arrived at the campsite we were greeted and reception by a very friendly lady who showed us on a map where to go and where to find everything.
We set up out tent on one of the tent hookup pitches which were well spaced.
    Everyone there was very friendly.
The toilets and showers were cleaned throughout the day and were always spotless.
The TV room was great for people to get warm and dry after a rain shower.
The town of Hawkshead is 5-10 minute walk from the site down a riverside path (theres no lights so take a torch)
Would highly recommend and will visit again!

Went to try pike fishing for the first time ever, and turned up early on a Sunday morning. I was introduced to my guide for the day ( dave ), who had all the gear we required for our day on the lake, rods bait etc.
You could tell Dave knew his business straight from the off, he drove us to our first location, and within minutes had three rods spread out the boat anchored up, and had me watching the floats in what could only be called a hoping vigil.
Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst, it started raining.
But within an hour dave pointed out one of the floats was on the move, under the guidance of Dave a successful strike was made, and my first ever pike was was reeled in.
Dave netted and unhooked the pike, i had a few selfies with the pike, who probably weighed in at around 8-10 pound, not a monster but a great catch all the same.
Dave and i stayed out for a few more hours, but the rain was that bad that even my waterproofs gave up and water started to seep in, so being cold and wet, i gave up on the hope of a second pike,
Still it was a most enjoyable day, and dave was great company. The may of ended in a soggy drive home, but i would do it all again.

Really enjoyed the introduction to clay pigeon shooting. Tim the instructor was excellent explaining the theory to us and then coaching us in action. Would thoroughly recommend the experience and even the rain added to the ambience at the beautiful location.
