Cape Girardeau Reviews
Rating 3.69 out of 5 105 reviews
Cape Girardeau is a wonderful, family-friendly town with a wide range of excellent restaurants, markets and grocery stores, along with new entertainment venues. ("Scout Hall" is a blast. Congratulations to them!) It also has several good shopping areas though I still prefer to drive an hour and a half to St. Louis sometimes for a larger selection. Maybe when Cape's new $150+ million mall opens I won't have to do that. Healthcare is really strong here. And I've always felt safe, though social media tends to play up fictitious shootings. But that's similar to other areas of the country. Overall, it's a great place to meet people, develop new friends, live, work and play.
I live in Cape Girardeau during the school year while I am in college. It is a decent size city, with lots of people. The most to do are things like social houses and bars, bowling or parks. Everything is a good drive away, 5-10 minutes at least.
Not as good as it once was.Crime, drugs, killings, shootings, harassment, fighting,no good jobs,
City wont fund enough law enforcement to combat over growing criminal activity. It has a college and they try to sweep all the negative news under the rug.City needs to put casino funds into things that will help the city not in things that are a waste of money.
