Minecraft from xbox to pc

So I just downloaded minecraft on my xbox but for some reason it's not showing up in my games in the play store on my pc.  I can play it on xbox and according to the mojang website, I should be able to play it on both my xbox and my pc.  These are the steps that it says to take:

For Windows10:

  1. Using your Microsoft account, sign into the PC where you want to install your games.
  2. Click on the three dots in the Windows Store next to your profile pic.
  3. Go to My Library. If you already own the game, you can download it from there.

Hey there, PenguinFoop

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

You are unable to play Minecraft you purchased on your Xbox One console on Windows 10. You will need to purchase Minecraft Windows 10 Edition here:

The one on Xbox One is here:

https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NBLGGH537BL

While you can connect with people on Windows, PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox. You have to purchase different versions of the game.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the input but according to this link, I shouldn't have to since both xbox and my pc are windows 10.  Am I wrong?

https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360042583751-Do-I-Need-to-Re-Buy-Minecraft-

While I do not trust everything online, I've found several places including the mojang website that says that the bedrock edition of minecraft should work on both and I believe that's the version I have...

EDIT:

So I just found a support article from microsoft that says that if I have game pass ultimate I should have the option to download the windows version of minecraft for free since I have it for xbox.

I have ultimate but I don't have the option to download it for free.  The play store says I have to buy it.

Hey there, PenguinFoop

Thanks for providing the link. You have misunderstood the article.

The article is saying if you have purchased either of the versions, and you have chosen to uninstall them as you didn't play, you don't need to re-purchase Minecraft again. You can see the game in your game Library.

However, in your case, you would see the Minecraft game available in your Library on Xbox One, but not on Windows 10 (as you did not purchase it).

Hope this helps,
