More recordings from Owsley (The Bear) Stanley's private collection of recordings. Best known for for his sound work with the Grateful Dead (and his L.S.D.) he kept the tape rolling for plenty of other bands as well including this two night run from June 15th and 16th 1968 from Tim Buckley. Funny I never noticed it until now but Buckley and Pigpen have similar voices.
Plenty of recordings around from this era from Buckley but the stripped down acoustic band is what makes this so unique. Just Buckley's guitar, stand up bass, vibes and percussion. Owsley of course misses the very beginning of "Buzzin' Fly" on not one but both versions of the song! Still plenty of great stuff though like both versions of "Happy Time", "Wayfaring Stranger", "Blues Love" and the anti racist two fer "Merry-Go-Round> Strange Feelin". A fascinating listen for the Buckley / Happy Sad era fan.
