Misplaced

Jacek (John Cameron Mitchell) and his mother, Halina (Elżbieta Czyżewska), leave their native Poland and emigrate to America, searching for a better life. After staying with family in Virginia, Jacek and Halina move to Washington, D.C., where Halina is forced to take a job beneath her abilities. Jacek struggles to blend in at his new high school while suffering the indignity of having to work part-time as a sanitation worker, but mother and son gradually acclimate to their new surroundings.
