S I M card reader won't work with Windows 10

Cannot get SIM card reader to work on Windows 10.  (Please note NOT asking about   SD   card, but SIM card, that operates in mobile phone. Question was asked previously but reply referred to   SD  card, which is quite a different situation. SIM card reader/device gets plugged into USB port
Hi Kerry,
did you installed correct drivers for this device? Is it wireless modem or some other device? How exactly it does not work? Do you see it in Device manager?

I installed driver from supplied CD.  SIM card is fitted into slot in side of device, then device plugs into a USB slot on PC.  Device lights up, but does not appear in device manager or file explorer as a USB drive

Is this device mobile modem? In this case it should not be identified as USB drive.
Please compare device list in Device manager with connected and disconnected device.

No Igor. this is not a mobile modem.  It is purely a SIM card reader, designed only for allowing  you to read and edit your SIM card contents - phone numbers and SMS - on your computer

Each properly installed and properly operated device should be presented in Device manager regardless of driver installation.
Your device is absent in Device manager so it is either faulty or improperly connected.
