Honour Roll

The purpose of the Crescent Heights High School Honour Roll is to recognize students who have displayed academic achievement each school year. Students and their families are encouraged to review the Honour Roll criteria below and to apply for this in the spring of each school year if they believe they are eligible. Our Student Services Team will email and post this quick online application form on May 1 each year, Student Services D2L and on the Crescentcowboys Instagram page every May when it is open. Students who achieved the honour roll for the school year will be recognized at our Top Subject Award Ceremony for Grade 10 and 11 in the early fall of each school year and at our Grade 12 Academic Awards Ceremony  in mid/late December for students who achieve this in their Grade 12 year.

Three Year Honour Society

Students who have achieved and maintained honours standing in each of their three years at Crescent will become members of the Honours Society. Students who receive three-year honours will be invited to an evening celebration in December where they will be acknowledged in a formal ceremony and receive a three-year honours certificate. Three year honour society information will be included in the May online form (students will check this off when they apply for Grade 12 Honour Roll).

Admissions Criteria: Determination of marks and averages will be based on final marks for the entire school year.

To be eligible as a member of the Honour Roll, a student must:

  • Attain no fewer than 40 credits in Grade 10; 35 credits in Grade 11; and 30 credits in Grade 12 with a final total of at least 100. All credits must be taken at CHHS.
  • Achieve an overall average of 80% or higher on the grade level courses (courses outlined below).
  • Complete the online application when it opens in May of each school year.
  • If students meet the minimum credits required to be a full time CHHS student, counsellors will use the courses below to calculate their honour roll average. These requirements mirror those used to apply for the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship (value up to $2500). We strongly encourage students to apply for the Alexander Rutherford scholarship in the summer after they complete Grade 12.

CHHS Award Celebrations

Early Fall Afternoon Celebration: Grade 10/11 Top Subject Award and Grade 10/11 Honour Roll

At this celebration we will celebrate and acknowledge students who achieve Grade 10/11 Honour Roll (see above for application and criteria) as well as students recognized by each subject area as those deserving special recognition. Each department determines their own criteria. This may be based on grades, improvements, hard work, determination or otherwise.

Please watch for email invitations to go home early in the school year if you are selected as a top subject award winner. Grade 10/11 Honour Roll students will be emailed a ceremony invitation in early fall to attend this celebration to acknowledge this academic achievement and receive their honour roll certificate.

Mid-December Evening: Grade 12 Top Subject Awards, Scholarship Presentations, Grade 12 Honour Roll and 3 Year Honour Society

At this celebration we will celebrate and acknowledge awards:

  • Scholarships winners from Education Matters, CHHS Alumni Society and other generous donors
  • Grade 12 Top Subject Awards
  • Grade 12 Honour Roll
  • 3 Year Honour Society

Please watch for a letter invitation in late November/early December. It is great to get our graduates back together to celebrate their achievements and celebrate all their hard work and dedication.
