Boston College men's basketball landed their first transfer commitment of the offseason as St. Bonaventure center/forward Chad Venning announced that he will be transferring to the Eagles. The rising graduate student, who transferred to the Bonnies after two seasons with Morgan State has one year of eligibility remaining.

Last season Venning made the All Atlantic 10 second team after averaging 13.4 points per game, to go along with 4.6 rebounds per game. The Brooklyn (NY) native had a season high 23 points against Buffalo, and hit 22 points twice (against LaSalle and Fordham). Against Power 5 teams he had 14 points in 18 minutes against Auburn, 10 points in 21 minutes against Oklahoma State, and 11 points against ranked FAU. Ironically, he fouled out of all those games. He also averaged 1.6 blocks per game, to go along with shooting 52% from the floor.

This gives Boston College much needed height to go along with junior Devin McGlockton and redshirt freshman Jayden Hastings, the former did not play this past season. Center Quinten Post graduated and sophomore center Armani Mighty hit the transfer portal, leaving BC with a real need for some front court depth. Venning will give the Eagles a veteran with extensive experience to pair with the young Hastings.

The Eagles have had five players enter the transfer portal since the end of the regular season. Guards Jaeden Zackery, Mason Madsen and Claudell Harris all entered after the loss to UNLV in the second round of the NIT. Forward Prince Aligbe and center Armani Mighty also entered. Since they have entered, Madsen announced on Sunday that he will be transferring to play with his brother Gabe at Utah, while Claudell Harris has had visits to Georgia and Texas A&M.

Boston College still have a number of spots open that they can address in the transfer portal, stay tuned to Eagle Insider for more updates as they are announced.
