When D. Fernando de Portugal was born on 17 November 1433, in Almeirim, Santarém, Portugal, his father, Duarte I De Portugal, was 42 and his mother, Leonor de Castilla y León y de Aragón, was 31. He married Beatriz Duchess of Viseu Aviz in 1447, in Alcáçovas, Viana do Alentejo, Évora, Portugal. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 18 September 1470, in Setúbal, Portugal, at the age of 36, and was buried in Beja, Beja, Portugal.
