You can't destroy what you can't see

After Captain Murphy lost some of his men on his last mission to Mexico to bring back a US Senator, he has been plagued with unhappiness and bad dreams. When Murphy is given orders to go back to Mexico to help Mexican people slaving for Salvatore, a rich drug dealer, he must use a new technology plane to get there. The plane is technically advanced with a new protection luxury called 'Active Stealth'. Murphy and his men get aboard the 'Active Stealth', piloted by Hollywood who dreams of being an actor and embark to Mexico. The action never stops from then on when Salvatore sends his men in to block them from getting through.

Fred Olen Ray does an amazing (as per usual) commentary track on this generic men-on-a mission movie:
"Fred Williamson's fingers are so fat he can't take his super bowl rings off, so all his characters have them."
"Someone CTRL-F replaced a character's name in the script, but it didn't work properly, so sometimes they say the wrong name in the film."
"I couldn't get anyone to focus in this scene because we had the next day off and everyone was in party mode already."
"I like to crush a bottle when a neck gets snapped on set because it makes the actor jump."

Fredruary
The difference between a Fred Olen Ray film where the action is made up of stock footage and a Jim Wynorski film of the same kind is huge. Wynorski will lift the scene wholesale and then insert two close ups and call it a day. FOR makes a real effort to incorporate the footage and have it work. The scene with the helicopter footage from Bulletproof works. If I didn’t know I would not be able to tell.
Fred Williamson turns up for the prologue action scene and after that he sits at a desk for the rest of the film.

I found this one to be a well-made military rescue type of movie, if not just a little lackluster at times. For a Fred Olen Ray flick this definitely seemed to have a decent budget, maybe it was that Wynorski money behind it 😉 there's some obvious cheap stuff and recycled footage in this but it all comes together pretty well 👍
Fred and Wynorski's movies are usually known for being a bit on the sleazy side, but this one really had none of that. It was really just a straightforward military actioner.
Some of it was predictable as it unfolded and some of it was just a little flat. You could certainly find something better but you could much more easily find something a lot worse 😆

A Fred Olen Ray banger. Terry Funk in a cowboy hat, Daniel Baldwin as the most well-fed hostage ever, double and triple crosses, plenty of things being shot at or blown up, and characters shouting the title of the film, “Go to...Active Stealth!” and me high-fiving myself.

Daniel Baldwin vs Terry Funk, directed by Fred Olen Ray and featuring a few brief scenes with Fred Williamson. This is an odd one for Ray in that it has virtually no sleaze and is played like a straight up commando/war rescue flick. Overall it has it's moments but really there's nothing bringing me back to this flick other than maybe next time I do a Funker marathon.

Fred Olen Ray is playing with action figures in his bedroom placing CHUD soldier tropes into vessels meant for Disney shows. Every moment plays out with bright eyed naivety for war constantly churning out action and cool guy quips . A lot of action movies today lack the confidence in ideas this has. Needs more Fred Williamson for an hour and thirty minute movie.

For a Fred Olen Ray/Fred Williamson flick, this was pretty disappointing. No sleaze, lame action with best parts taken from better movies and fat Daniel Baldwin who struggles to stay awake in some scenes. Sometimes you can find some gems in the pile of crap but not this time. I should really focus on the 80's exploration sleaze/action, when these same people still tried to put some effort into their work.

Out of all of the Baldwin brothers,Daniel Baldwin has had the more interesting career as he's worked for some top notch genre filmmakers(such as John Carpenter and Stuart Gordon),and you might as well add Fred Olen ray to that list,even though if Daniel is starring in another cut-and-paste Phoenician Entertainment joint that has Daniel using the title military plane to help him and his team rescue some hostages that are held captive by a drug czar(Joe Lala) and his henchmen(with wrestler Terry Funk being amongst them[and playing a henchman as he did in ROADHOUSE]). This time,the Phoenicican crew lift scenes from CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER as the team lays waste on the bad guys,complete with that exploding mansion with satellite…
