It is with profound sadness and sorrow that the family of John Soroka announces his passing on his 88th birthday. John grew up on a farm north of Meacham. He married his soul mate Jeannette Prestupa in 1961 and the couple celebrated 62 years of marriage; they were blessed with five children. Leaving to honour John's memory are: his wife Jeannette; children: Todd (June), Melana (Gil), Kevin, Darrel (Opie), and Darcy (Leanne). He was a loving grandfather to: Amber, Ashley (Kyle), Linden, Zachary and Hannah and step grandfather to: Ashley (Mike), Garret (d. 2017) and EJ. John loved his great grandchildren: Hayley, Logan, Drew and Andie and step great grandchildren: Sawyer, Daphne, Isaiah, Leila, Tillie and Marley. The family would like to express gratitude for the exceptional care that John received from Drs. Larson, Ogieglo, Iqbal and the caring palliative care team that permitted him to pass at home with dignity. A funeral of Divine Liturgy to celebrate John's life will be held at Dormition Ukrainian Catholic Parish on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m., 120 105 Street Saskatoon SK. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
