  • To ensure access to convenient, high-quality service for a wide range of passengers, China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Eastern") has launched an online check-in service that allows passengers to check themselves in using China Eastern's official website. For the fastest, most convenient flight experience possible, please follow the Instructions.

      1. Currently, online check-in through China Eastern's official website is only available for passengers for the following flights: domestic flights departing from designated airports with China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines as their actual carrier (except for domestic segments of some international flights) and some international (regional) flights; China Eastern reserves the right to stop its online check-in service under special circumstances such as flight delays.

      2. Online check-in service is available for the following passengers: adult passengers, accompanied child passengers (for domestic flights only), not including infant passengers. Passengers who have applied for special services or special in-flight meals need to register at the airport counter on the day of boarding (there could be safety concerns for women over 32 weeks pregnant).

      3. Passengers in need of special services will need to complete corresponding service applications before being able to check in online. Following check-in, any ticket change and refund, or special services will need to be applied after the cancellation of the check-in.

      4. Tickets that have already been used for check-in at a check-in counter cannot be used again for online check-in.

      5. You can check in online for your flight 48 hours before takeoff, except for routes in the United States and Canada, for which online check-in starts 24 hours before takeoff.

      6. For domestic flights, the cut-off time for online check-in and boarding pass replacement is 45 minutes before takeoff; for international flights, 60 minutes before takeoff; the cut-off time for online check-in cancellation is 60 minutes before takeoff; boarding gates are closed 15 minutes before takeoff (or 20 minutes before takeoff at some airports), please check the boarding gate closing time page for more details. Please get onboard in time to avoid missing your flight.

      7. Boarding passes stamped with security check seals are considered to be valid documents for boarding. Other copies and unstamped boarding passes will no longer be accepted as valid boarding documents.

      8. We thank you for arriving at the China Eastern check-in counter at least 60 minutes before takeoff to check your baggage. For domestic flights, any baggage larger than 20 cm × 40 cm × 55 cm in size or more than 8 kg in weight must be checked. For international flights, any baggage larger than 25 cm × 45 cm × 56 cm in size, or with the sum of its three sides exceeding 115 cm must be checked. Checked baggage must comply with corresponding security requirements. Items that must be placed in checked baggage include alcoholic beverages, knives, dangerous articles, etc. Valuables, travel certificates, fragile items and dangerous items that are flammable, explosive, or corrosive are prohibited from being transported in checked baggage.

      Provisions concerning the safe transportation of lithium batteries in baggage are as follows:

      (1) Portable electronic devices containing lithium metal batteries/battery packs or lithium ion batteries/battery packs, such as watches, calculators, cameras, mobile phones, laptops, and portable cameras carried by passengers or aircrew for personal use can be kept in carry-on baggage or checked baggage;

      (2) Spare lithium metal batteries/battery packs or lithium ion batteries/battery packs for portable electronic devices must be kept in carry-on baggage. Backup batteries of this sort should be placed in the original retail packaging or separated with individual packaging. The following precautions must also be taken to prevent individual batteries from short circuiting: covering exposed terminals with tape, placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective carrier, and only carrying the batteries in carry-on baggage. In addition, each lithium battery or battery pack incorporated in an electronic device must comply with the following requirements: a. The lithium content of a lithium metal or lithium alloy battery may not exceed 2 grams; b. The Watt-hour rating of a lithium ion battery or battery pack may not exceed 100 Wh;

      (3) Devices containing lithium ion batteries or battery packs can be kept in checked baggage or carry-on baggage. Spare lithium ion batteries with a watt-hour rating exceeding 100 Wh but less than 160 Wh can only be kept in carry-on baggage. There is a limit of 2 for such batteries (or battery packs), and each of them must be well-packed so that they are protected from short-circuiting.

      9. According to United States Government regulations, passengers flying to the United States of America need to have their baggage checked by an explosive trace detector at the boarding gate in addition to ordinary security screening when they are carrying with them electronic devices larger than a mobile phone or a smartphone (such as an iPad, a kindle or a laptop). Otherwise, passengers will not be allowed to take the devices onto the aircraft with them.

      10. Boarding gates are subject to change from time to time. After arriving at the airport, please check the airport's information screen or check with staff to obtain the latest information regarding the boarding gate of your flight.

      11. In a rare case such as a change in aircraft type, there might be a resulting change in your seat number. China Eastern may have to reassign your seat. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

      12. If you have completed online check-in but would like to cancel your flight for personal reasons, you can cancel your check-in through official self-service channels (including China Eastern official website, China Eastern APP, China Eastern mobile website, China Eastern WeChat mini program, and China Eastern official WeChat account "China Eastern"). There is a limit of three cancellations for each passenger for one flight. If you have already arrived at the airport, you can also contact our check-in counter staff to help you cancel your seat.

      13. Any use of exclusive marks of China Eastern, such as its trademark, corporate name, or corporate logo by a third-party online self-check-in service without authorization constitutes an infringement of the legitimate rights and interests of China Eastern. China Eastern shall not be held liable for any loss or personal information leakage incurred by passengers' use of third-party online self-check-in service.

      14. If you are denied boarding or your baggage is lost or damaged, you may be entitled to certain standards of treatment and compensation under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations. For more information about your passenger rights please contact your air carrier or visit the Canadian Transportation Agency’s website.

      Si l’embarquement vous est refusé ou si vos bagages sont perdus ou endommagés, vous pourriez avoir droit au titre du Règlement sur la protection des passagers aériens, à certains avantages au titre des normes de traitement applicables et à une indemnité. Pour de plus amples renseignements sur vos droits, veuillez communiquer avec votre transporteur aérien ou visiter le site Web de l’Office des transports du Canada.

      15. We thank you for abiding by the regulations governing the validity of identifications for civil aviation flights by corresponding government departments and ensuring that your identification is legitimate and valid. Please note that the responsibility for any problems resulting from a mismatch of your identification and your name or the invalidity of your identification shall remain with the passenger (passengers whose name contains rare characters or Pinyin and characters at the same time may need to check in at the airport counter).

      16. We thank you for abiding by the corresponding regulations on the validity period of entry documents and visas by the government of your arrival country and ensuring that your documents meet all entry requirements before checking in.
