First photographed on Sweeney’s arm at an Emmys party in L.A., Davino has been in the actress's life for years. Though it's unclear exactly when the pair met or how they fell in love, the Washington native was photographed wearing an enormous ring on a very special finger while out and about in L.A. on February 28, 2022, with People confirming her engagement news in early March. Sweeney and Davino first sparked dating buzz in September 2018, when they were photographed looking lovey dovey at an Emmys party at the Nomad hotel in Los Angeles. One month later, they were spotted together once more, this time for an InStyle and Kate Spade dinner party.

He’s based in Chicago.

According to multiple outlets, the Windy City serves as Davino’s home base—a fact that Sweeney all but confirmed when she cited the city as being one of two places she can see herself settling down to Elite Daily in December 2019 (the other being the Amalfi Coast). When asked who she knew in Chicago, the car enthusiast coyly replied, “A friend.”

He's 13 years her senior.

People cites Davino as being 37 years old, making him 13 years the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star's senior.

He’s not in the spotlight—and Sweeney prefers it that way.

Though Sweeney didn’t reference Davino by name, she discussed her preference for dating non-famous people to Cosmopolitan amid their romance in February 2022. “I don’t date people in the spotlight,” she told the publication. “I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest,” she explained, adding, “I have a great support system.”

She then got a little more personal, hinting that Davino was secure enough to allow her to be a star in her own right. “I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, 'Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back,’” the Handmaid’s Tale actress explained.

Both People and TMZ have linked Davino to the family that owns vaporizer design packaging companies 14th Round and Final Bell. In 2013, Crain's Chicago Business also listed Sweeney's beau as the owner of two since-closed Chicago restaurants, Mista Pizza and Pompei Xpress.

The couple packed on the PDA on the beaches of Hawaii, where Sweeney was reportedly filming The White Lotus, in November of 2020. In photos obtained by Just Jared, the restauranteur could be seen holding his girlfriend aloft as she wrapped her legs around his waist for an intimate smooch.
