Father of Michael Redgrave
First-generation of what is believed to be the longest uninterrupted dynasty of cinema actors with the same surname in the world (now in its 4th generation with Jemma Redgrave).
Had three children from his first marriage to Ellen Maud Pratt, who later remarried Frederick John Nettleford: John, Robin (married and father of Major-General Sir Roy Redgrave) and Nellie.
Had a natural son by Esther Mary Cooke, wife of Henry Parrett, named Victor Carlisle.
Is buried under a very simple headstone at South Head Cemetery, in the Sydney, Australia suburb of Vaucluse. His son, Michael, is acknowledged on the headstone. The inscription simply reads "Roy Redgrave, Actor. Died May 25, 1922, age 50. Marked by his son, Michael.".
He was the son of Zoe Beatrice Elsworthy (Pym) and George Augustus Redgrave.
