Hinsdale Central High School Reviews
Rating 4.16 out of 5 400 reviews
My family's experience at Hinsdale Central was extremely positive. The rigorous academics fostered intellectual growth. Faculty held high standards, building critical skills for college success.
The exceptional athletics and positive school spirit created a tight-knit community. The athletic teams are very competitive with students embracing spirit weeks, pep rallies, and events.
While facilities were well-maintained, they do show their age. Renovations to areas like auditoriums and science labs would elevate the learning environment. Additionally, efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion among students/faculty would broaden perspectives.
Overall, Hinsdale Central's strengths in academics, extracurriculars, and spirit are exemplary. The preparation for higher ed is immense. I highly recommend it, especially if students are committed to the academic rigor. My daughter grew tremendously. Boosting diversity will further Hinsdale Central’s excellence in unlocking student potential.

Hinsdale Central really opened the doors to a good high school experience, I wouldn't change a thing. They are a really strong school academically and although I myself am not as an individual- I did feel bad at times but it really helps you grow because of the wide variety of resources.
Hinsdale Central offers unrivaled opportunities for its students. As one of Illinois's top public high schools, Hinsdale Central accurately lives up to its ranking. Its course offerings are well-diversified in their rigor and depth, and the teachers go above and beyond to mentor curious students. Particularly, the school's AP program prepares its students to navigate undergraduate-level educational settings--graduated students often return to express their gratitude, as they effectively utilize new methodologies and time-management methods due to Hinsdale Central.
However, there are downsides. The most blatant shortcoming is the school's lack of diversity, which often impedes underrepresented students from feeling a sense of community and inclusion. Moreover, the board is heavily focused on aligning Hinsdale South's curriculum with Hinsdale Central's curriculum, despite drastic learning curves between the two schools.
