Coleen Garcia has announced the arrival of Baby Amari, her first child with husband Billy Crawford.
Coleen made the announcement on Instagram early today, September 10, 2020.
She gave birth at exactly 6:33 a.m.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via e-mail on August 24, the first-time mom told the story behind Amari's unique name.
Coleen revealed it was Billy's idea.
She said, "His name is Amari. Billy was the one who chose it.
"He says it just popped in his mind, and when he searched it, he saw that it means 'promised by God,' and as we shared in one of our vlogs, that is definitely the story of this baby and this pregnancy, so it’s perfect."
Coleen added that her baby's name also means "strength and eternal."
Coleen delivered her baby through water birth with the help of a doula, a nurse, and a midwife at her home in Quezon City.
Asked what made her decide to give birth at home, she said, "My main driving force for wanting to have a home birth, more than anything, is just to have the peaceful birth I’ve wanted from the start.
"And after thoroughly studying my options, I just don’t feel like I would be as comfortable in a hospital setting right now.
"It leaves more room for me to just trust in God and allow the birth to happen as naturally as it can.
"He has blessed me with a low-risk pregnancy, and the baby has been showing all the good signs at the right times, so I’m a good candidate for home birth."
For now, Baby Amari will be staying in his parents' room.
But according to the Kapamilya actress, the nursery is almost ready.
The VIVA talent told PEP.ph, "His room is almost ready! With the help of Gussy, an interior design company, we turned our old gym into his room!
"It’s such a beautiful room, and I look forward to spending time there.
"There are just a few more things that need to be added, but we plan on co-sleeping in our room first, so that room’s just gonna be there waiting for him!"
