Can I control opengear converter frame with network?
If so, what software do I need and what do I need to do?

You will want to download and install the DashBoard software so you can control/monitor the frame via network.

Thanks, I have downloaded dashboard, some how it will not connect to the frame. It ask for an IP adress and port, what IP and port must I use?
My network works well with other black devices such as the smartcontrol and video hub.

The IP in the dashboard software must match the IP that your openGear frame is set to. After that, the dashboard should read the cards in the frame.

Alternatively you can also have the frame set to DHCP and the Dashboard software will detect the frame if it's on the same network.

Its still giving me problems. Are the any links ( not the dip switches ) on the controll board 8320 N that I should activate?

What's the IP address of the frame? Did you do anything to configure that? (I am guessing not as per your prior answer where you did not know what the settings were).

Probably the Opengear frame will come pre-set with a default IP address - and that's probably not compatible with your existing network settings.

There are a couple of settings on the network board itself. They use the binary jumper pins. One setting is for DEFAULT IP (I can't remember what it is, but IIRC it wasn't exactly what would come by default). Another is Static which you need to set in the dashboard and the third is DHCP which as Kaspar said the Dashboard will seek out and find your rack.

Hi there

Thanks for all your replies

somehow it will not pick up the frame:

I have used DHCP dip switch setting, no joy

I have used 192.168.2.1 and 10 1.2.1 , every time it comes up with same error message, " make sure of IP address or upgrade version". I am running latest that I have downloads from opengear ( 5.1 )

When you set it to one of those ip addresses do you also change your pc's IP address as well? Your IP address / settings need to be in the appropriate range also (or rather the IP address of the frame needs to be in the same "range" as your own IP address). E.g if you set the frame to be 192.168.2.1 your PC address should be something like 192.168.2.x

Have you tried pinging the frame? If that doesn't work... Then something else is going wrong.

So... Also tell us what YOUR IP address is.

I have a Ross Open Gear Frame with several Ross cards. Installed two BMD HDMI to SDI open gear cards and cannot see them in Dashboard. All the Ross card are there but not the BM converters. Do i have to have a BM Open Gear frame to see the BM converters? The BM converters work somewhat. I have a HDMI coming from a laptop into the BM converter. The HDSDI can be displayed on an HDSDI monitor but broadcast equipment does not recognize it. AJA FS-1 and a HDSDI encoder does not like the output of the BM Open Gear converter.
