I wanted more from high school than a 9am to 3pm lifestyle. I am sure that I would do well at my home high school, but would there be a community where I would feel support? The Hotchkiss School has small classes with individualized instruction. The campus community is diverse. There are co-curricular programs (for me Varsity Soccer in Fall and hiking, theater and dance in Spring) and numerous clubs. When I was looking for a club that did not exist, an Advisor worked with students to develop the materials needed. I even studied abroad!
I learned how to organize my days with help from Hotchkiss' "The Learning Center." While each day is very busy and even demanding, I have free time to meet up with friends. My teachers are approachable and I feel comfortable speaking to them. That is how I feel, in general, about Hotchkiss- I belong and I am comfortable!
I encourage prospect students that Hotchkiss is a great place to live and learn because of the great experiences I have had.

Hotchkiss is truly special. The people that attend this school come from literally all around the world and come from all walks of life. The faculty, advisors, and teachers are as a whole just fabulous. The music program -- simply unparalleled, and strong athletic + academic program as well. But the best part: school culture. Hotchkiss was honestly just a second family to me and I personally never felt more accepted and supported.
Some people say that the kids who come here are all rich, full of themselves, and the administration doesn't do anything about it. The truth is that the school is so much more than that and this stigma is honestly just false. Most of the kids here put in effort and care, and they receive the fruits of their success. There are always some that don't conform to the standards, but that doesn't at all change the fact that Hotchkiss offers an amazing experience for anyone to gain a fulfilling educational experience. I would choose Hotchkiss again in an instant.

They sell you a big pretty picture and in the beginning it works and everything is fine for your child but then once you realize your child is suffering and has no support and the school does not acknowledge what is really happening and turns a blind eye on it. Disappointed to see how they get the smart kids in but once they are in and the grades decline no one sees anything wrong with it.
