I have truly enjoyed my time here at Notre Dame. I have made plenty of friends and all the girls are very nice.
In my eighth grade year, I was introduced to the Notre Dame School of Manhattan and felt a connection, so of course, I rushed to take the Tachs Exam - which I had been quite averse to initially. Despite a bumpy transition between middle and high school, through clubs and French projects I accumulated a substantial amount of loyal, talented, and intelligent friends. Without Notre Dame, I would have never been exposed to some of the most brilliant, curiosity-invoking teachers, ones who have both challenged and encouraged me throughout my high school years. I would be remiss if I did not share how accessible teachers are to their students. Whether it be the morning, after school, or during a free period, in my experience, teachers are more than happy to help or even just converse with students. Of course, this is not to say the school is completely flawless - there are a couple assemblies we probably could have done without. Overall though, I'm grateful for my experience.
Overall, the school is great. The faculty care about the students a lot, and want them to succeed more than anything. They have helped me get internships and jobs from their letters of recommendations. They will set you up and prepare you for college. While all this is great, I wish there were more AP classes, as we don't have a lot to offer and we have to apply to get in. Because the college process is super competitive, I wish we had more AP's to offer.
My experience at ND has not been more than amazing, I have not only received a great education that prepared me for college but I've also made friends that will last a lifetime. I truly love the size of the school since it allows teachers to know all the students well and has allowed me to build relationships with my teachers. Although covid affected my high school experience, I am thankful that ND made sure we had hybrid classes and still had the opportunity to be in the classroom. The only negative aspect of ND is probably the fact that sports practices are usually held outside the building as our gym is not that big, other than that ND is an amazing school with a great academic level and a place where teachers genuinely care about all students.
I have been at Notre Dame since I was a freshman and my experience has been quite enjoyable here. Although almost two years was taken away because of Covid, I still love the ND community. The only thing I would like to see change is the school spirit towards the sports programs.
This school is not bad but Sister Virginia is too money hungry. She cares more about money than the well-being of her students. The teachers give detentions for any and everything. And there is a racism issue in that school.
Paying for a public school level education is only the start of the problems at this school. Teachers and students alike engage in hateful rhetoric that goes unpunished. The only individuals who seem to enjoy this institution are members of the sub par sports teams who are favored over every other club offered. The administration is more worried about policing skirt length than the atrocities said by faculty and students.
ND is a Catholic School in name only. It promotes lying, cheating and is rather abusive to its students. Theology class was spent more on dating advice and virtue signaling than on actual lessons. On a test, my daughter was asked the following, "BLM is an example of", there was a correct answer which was not an honest response for my child. My child, the child of a law enforcement officer had to lie and keep quiet throughout the entire year while teachers, not just the theology teacher spewed hatred towards those who wear a badge. I spoke to administration several times and the rhetoric quieted down, but that lull was temporary and soon revived itself. Sister Virginia cares more for the mighty dollar than the betterment of the students. Parental involvement was reduced to that of a checkbook only. In addition, the last year was a complete waste, my children learned nothing and it is evident when compared to what they are doing in their new school.
I love Notre Dame because the school environment has helped me grow into the person I am. The sports teams are very good and the bonds you create with the coaches on any particular team is really unbelievable. I remember coming to Notre Dame and not knowing what to expect, I read every review on Niche and yet did not have the closure I needed in order to know that this was the school for me. Actually, when I was applying to high schools Notre Dame was the last on my list, but I am so happy with my choice. I believe that Notre Dame is the best all girls private school in Manhattan based off of the other schools I know within the same "grouping" (SVF, DA, etc.) and the stories I have heard from students who go there. Obviously I am biased since I am a student at Notre Dame, but I will say that there are very few people that I know who are happy with the school they go to, and I am happy that I chose ND.
Classmates-In the beginning the students were very nice. As the years progressed, there were more cliques. People were very mean if you were not into partying or hooking up.
Teachers-Some of the teachers were great.Other teachers were somewhat lazy and liked to give busy work instead of actually teaching us
Curriculum-The curriculum was not college preparatory at all. I believe I only wrote 1 college paper throughout my whole high school career. We barely did any reading either.
Lunch-For the amount of money we pay, the lunch we get is terrible. Other private schools do way better in that department.
Administration-The worst part of this school. They are willing to turn a blind eye when rich students break rules, but do not hesitate to suspend poor BIPOC. They claim they care about diversity but their actions speak louder than words.
If you like a school full of whiny students, average academics, and money hungry administrators, than this is the school for you.

Notre Dame is a great school with a rigorous academics and many extracurriculars. However, in my opinion the school culture is not the best. Students are often stressed and staying up till 3 am to simply get their homework/projects done. Teachers are not very helpful and at times lazy and most importantly their is a culture of racism towards students of color by admin, teachers and classmates. When I look back on my time at notre dame I can only reflect fondly on some of the students I met and the school location on the west village.
I was a shy girl coming into the school and I left a confident and bright girl. There were some problems along the way in which POC were made to feel a little left out, but I'm sure that the school will take measures against their past mistakes.
I like the community and the atmosphere. It’s an all girls school and everyone’s very chill. It’s very comfortable and the building is very pretty.
The teachers are very supportive, but the workload can be overwhelming. The school is very clique based, but it is easy to find true, caring, and supportive friends. The lunch food is not that great considering the price of tuition.
Overall, the school prepares you very well. I wish there was more school spirit, however that seems to be getting better. The area is fantastic. It is the best possible place to go to high school. There's the upscale meat-packing district with cute shops, but if you walk to union square you can get food from any fast food places and shop at your favorite stores.

Likes: In the middle of Lower Manhattan, easy transportation.
Dislikes: small building, not enough sports.

Notre Dame gave me a safe and welcoming place to call home for four years. I am glad that I decided to go here instead of staying close to home. Notre Dame allowed me to explore the city. I also gained friends from all over that I will keep for a lifetime. Deciding to go here was one of the best decisions I have made. Being at Notre Dame always felt like home because of the support the teachers give to a student.
Notre Dame allowed me to grow as an individual. It allowed for me to have a small community of supportive individuals wanting to help me grow as a person.
