Robert Alan Krieger, born January 8, 1946, in Los Angeles, is a musical performer and The Doors guitarist. He attended UCLA. “The first music I heard that I liked was Peter and the Wolf. I accidentally sat and broke the record (I was about seven). Then I listened to rock ‘n’ roll – I listened to the radio a lot – Fats Domino, Elvis, The Platters.

“I started surfing at fourteen. There was lots of classical music in my house. My father liked march music. There was a piano at home. I studied trumpet at ten, but nothing came of it. Then I started playing blues on the piano?no lessons though. When I was seventeen, I started playing guitar. I used my friend’s guitar. I didn’t get my own until I was eighteen. It was a Mexican flamenco guitar. I took flamenco lessons for a few months. I switched around from folk to flamenco to blues to rock ‘n’ roll.

“Records got me into the blues. Some of the newer rock ‘n’ roll, such as the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. If it hadn’t been for Butterfield going electric, I probably wouldn’t have gone rock ‘n’ roll.

I didn’t plan on rock ‘n’ roll. I wanted to learn jazz; I got to know some people doing rock ‘n’ roll with jazz, and I thought I could make money playing music. In rock ‘n’ roll you can realize anything that you can in jazz or anything. There’s no limitation other than the beat. You have more freedom than you do in anything except jazz – which is dying – as far as making any money is concerned.

“In The Doors we have both musicians and poets, and both know of each other’s art, so we can effect a synthesis. In the case of Tim Buckley or Dylan you have one man’s ideas. Most groups today aren’t groups. In a true group all the members create the arrangements among themselves.”

Most people know Robby Krieger as the consummate music artist in his role as former guitar player and songwriter of the legendary band The Doors.
What shouldn’t be surprising is that creativity has no boundaries and many times artistic expression will spill over into more then one medium for the artist.
Robby Krieger is no exception as demonstrated in his creation of a collection of spectacular, never-before-seen works of art…now available to art lovers and Robby fans.
Now, through the charity services organization, ART FOR A CAUSE, limited edition, giclee prints of his beautiful paintings will, for the first time, be available to the fans of Robby Krieger.

🎵 Music is about feeling the vibes. What song do you vibe most to? ... See MoreSee Less

God Bless Kreiger the psychodelic tiger 🙏🎸💕🎶☮️ Totally all the songs from Doors 🚪 & thru as one super collective universal current energy of rock jazz rythm & blues. Riff Master of a generation 🙏☮️🎼🎸😎 Amen!

Ok so I'm partial to LA Woman, but outside Robbie's realm.... I have to admit I can listen forever to several songs. Mad Man Moon by Genesis, sitting on the Dock of the Bay Otis Redding, Does Anybody know What Time it Is Chicago, Battlestations George Michael. Stevie Ray Vaughan version of the sky is crying, Louie Armstrong's Jeepers Creepers, walking my baby back Home Nat King Cole....funny enough I never tire of The Pink Panther theme or Snoopy theme either. It's weird what makes you smile. Vibes I never tire of...Btw great vibes on your new album.

Depends on my mood. Usually a healthy dose of Doors songs helps 🙂

Your solo on Light My Fire gets to me every single time I hear the song played.

Still sounds a little like the doors

Your lost little girl

Definitely has the Doors sound to it. Love the solo on Light my Fire which is iconic. Love LA Woman and Riders of the Storm too.

Castles made of sand

I vibe to horizontal video

Love your Slide Home

Awesome, Robby! ⭐

C'est vraiment bon ! 🇨🇵

Love this Robbie 🙏✌

Rides on the Storm

Those keys are Vox?

‘Arabian Caravan’ (*in lieu of ‘Spanish’) 👌🏻🌹

The End

The end 😉

She was a princess. Queen of the belly dances.

Bunny Racket?

Samosas & Kingfishers I reckon - rare to see Robby on Sitar! Although not as rare as Ray on Guitar!

I’m at a bar in Portland, Oregon and I just heard The Doors song “Break on Through”.

Samosas and Kingfishers, but it could be Indian Summer or Spanish Caravan. Loved it, Robby!

Samosas and Kingfishers! Great music, you guys! ♥️😊

The End👍🎸✌

Spanish Caravan yes I know you can.

Spanish Caravan?!

Samosas and kingfishers!

my good herr krieger,.....in both audio and visual, these are all the soundtrack of my dreams !

Samosas & Kingfishers 😎

Samosas & Kingfishers

Don't know but the song Samosas and Kingfishers is mesmerizing

Do you realize how much we all love you man? Don't we people?

I don't know but I bet it's awesome

Spanish Caravan?

Samosas and Kingfishers

This week marks the anniversary of my old friend Ray’s passing. He was an incredible keyboard player and I miss him and his riffs every day.

🫶 Please feel free to share any stories you have of seeing him with The Doors. His life deserves to be celebrated!

I met Ray and Robby backstage at the PNC arts center in NJ after I talked my way back there with my daughter. When I saw Ray I burst into tears. The promoter asked if I was ok and did I have tickets for the next show at Jones Beach NY. I said no tickets and he put me on the VIP list. We got 6 tickets with 7th row seats and backstage access. A year later I used the same pass and got backstage. Here I am with my cousin and Ray.

I met Ray at the event that he and Danny Sugerman headlined in Paris for Jim's 30th death anniversary in 2001. It was held at the Bouffes du Nord theatre and you had to have a special ticket that you picked up at the Virgin Megastore on the Champs Elysees. Ray had a fun Q+A and showed HWY and played a few songs, including Riders on the Storm. Good times.

I met all three of them back in Willamsburg Va. after the concert and John Densmore asked me to come in. Sat down beside Ray Manzarek drinking a beer and talked some. Groovy and cool!

When I was young, Morrison was such a big personality it was easy to overlook the incredible musicianship of the other band members. As years went by I started noticing the incredible talent everyone had.

Great musician and artist ...all the best for him..

I could sit & listen to Ray talking/telling stories all day. He is sorely missed.

Great musician, humble and intelligent!

Robby Krieger would you please sign my Weird Scenes LP my brother??? I still have a ticket stub when I saw you at BB Kings in NY in 2002! Saw you in Atlanta too with 21st Century Doors!! Both were great shows!!!

Saw you guys and was backstage during a Ray and Robby show in Cleveland (HOB I believe). Afterwards he offered us cake - it’s chocolaty good he said in his deep voice. I’ll never forget.

Consider myself very greatful that I was able to see Ray (with Robby) four times in '08, 10 and twice at back to back shows in '11

Great musician, wishing peace.

There had never been, and appears there will never be again, a keyboard player like Ray. Distinctive sound, distinctive musical interpretation. Wonderful, unique talent. 👍❤️

We tend to take one and other for granted when we are younger. Recently I attended a funeral service where over 250 people showed up to pay their respects. Steve was a well respected local guitarist that had played gigs for over 40 years, and we will no longer be able to watch his band play again,as he was irreplaceable as they say. Sorry for the loss of your friend,I know what it’s like to wish a Time Machine was on hand

The Doors' gentleman. Hope you and Jim are writing new material.....✌️

Loved seeing you guys rock New Years Eve 2006 / 2007 at The Roundhouse, Camden, London. Such a great atmosphere that night!

"The Whole Thing Started with Rock and Roll Now it's Out of Control". Sure, the music was awesome but, for me, it's one of the greatest album covers of all-time. Brilliant.

I saw him and the poet Michael McClure in the 90’s or early 2000’s maybe in a club in NYC. Ray was at an acoustic piano and sounded fantastic. First time I’d been in the same room as one of the Doors and that was profound for me.

Me and my (late) husband saw The Doors in 2007 at Budapest! I'm very glad that we went to the concert as Doors was my husband's all time fave band. I'm sure that he is in touch with Jim and Ray up there. Thank you Robbie for the unforgettable experience! 🎧♥️

A great man a great artist a great musician. Tx for the music Ray , u still iin my heart

You guys were my favorite band in my teens. Your music meant much to me at that time, and still does. I was born in '67 so too young to see the band in its original incarnation, but I did see Robbie play in Farmingdale New York some years ago, a fantastic experience! The music isn't over yet!

20th June 2007 I was privileged enough to see you guys play in Sheffield, UK. It was an amazing night seeing yourself and Ray performing The Doors catalogue.

There are many musicians in the family, not all organists, but literally everyone learned to play the intro to Light My Fire, my grandpa (both), my father, me, and my son. So... yeyy!

RIP Ray.🥰

Ray was the best keyboardist ever. He was underrated. Ray was one also an intelligent man as was the other three men known as THE DOORS it took all four to make The Best Band every. THE DOORS music will live forever. Thanks for sharing this.

RIP ⭐LEGEND⭐ 🎹✨🙏 💖
