When 2 homeless young adults are fed-up with utilizing their street smarts to simply live, they find a way to break into a house in Malibu while the owners are off on vacation, and live it up. While one seems to be a bit desensitized to his own horrible actions(Thomas Dekker), the other begins to realize the error of their ways(Gabriella Wilde)as she stumbles upon the family's personal home videos, revealing how troubled and tortured they are over the loss of a family member. Once she realizes that the family is really no different than them other then a roof and a number within a bank account, she begins to set things strait before the family returns. This would be…
“Girls like you get into bars without waiting. They don't go to old black and white movies on the big screen by themselves.“ BARFF TF SHUT UP MICHAEL
I like how before the homeless duo start squatting in a empty house they always look like they've rubbed their faces with dirt. They appear to spend most their day on a beach, with an ocean that you know contains water. And usually beaches like that have outside showers as well, but they chose to not use them. And even when they "move in" to "their" new home, they are reluctant to take a shower. Like they literally deliberate on whether they should or not.
Also like that the guy have a natural eye-liner and eye-shadow plus a perfect 5 o clock beard shadow everday but still feel the need to appearantly rub his face in dirt.
Anyway looking past…
"You don't look like a Charlie Chaplin fan"
Fuck you, what does a Charlie Chaplin fan look like?
Gabriella Wilde was the lone high point in this otherwise cheesey cringefest of a movie. The music choices and cinematography made it feel like one of those TV movies from the 1900s.
Squatters tells the story of street kids stealing from a wealthy family and some rather unexpected results. I liked it but
the final act came across as too coincidental. Everything fits together like a neat puzzle to try and create the most dramatic effect but it an artifical way.
Squaters, which is mostly a crime thriller but also has romance, walks a narrow line between being moving and cheesy. Still, I was never bored annoyed which is a good one time watch in my book.
Quickie Review
An indie drama from director Martin Weisz, Squatters follows a pair of homeless people (Thomas Dekker & Gabriella Wilde) who break into the home of an affluent family and make themselves comfortable but things get complicated when the family, a businessman (Richard Dreyfuss), his wife (Lolita Davidovich) and son (Luke Grimes) come home and it soon spirals into a chain of events that will change the lives of everyone involved. Right from the end credits sequence where behind the scenes photos are shown, this movie was made with heart and an appreciation for the material. If only the finished product wasn't so halfhearted to sit through. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. On the one hand, the cast…
Insane movie honestly and not going to lie I bawled my eyes out multiple times. But overall very stupid and creepy.
Always wanted to check this one out, more so because I find Wilde to have been such a beautiful and fun actress in her limited work. I think she had a bunch of kids and kind of fell out of Hollywood since her quick rise to fame a decade ago. But this was one title I could never find a copy of, but then it got added to Tubi last month.
Wilde and Dekker are two homeless kids that find out a rich family is leaving home for awhile, so they break in and use their clothes, their cars and steal their valuables.
After nearly being detected when the family returns, they escape and I think that's where the movie…
girls can like charlie chaplin?
it's a good idea to fall in love with the person who robbed you
Empieza bastante bien la cinta pero a medida que se desarrolla pierde intensidad y se vuelve previsible con un final ....en fin...
La temática daba mucho más de sí aunque las pretensiones eran otras me parece a mi.
Pasable.
