Thunderstorms that develop over the Texas Panhandle this afternoon and evening will merge into one or more eastward tracking storm complexes tonight. The primary threat will be damaging winds and large hail. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Heavy rain may also cause flooding in some areas. As storms will move into the area after dark, make sure to leave your phone on and nearby you overnight to ensure you receive any warnings issued. You should also check the weather and road conditions before driving tonight or tomorrow morning.
The potential for severe weather will return late Thursday as another round of thunderstorms enters from the west or northwest. Large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rain will be possible, especially west of the I-35 corridor. The main time window for severe weather will be late Thursday afternoon through Thursday night.
Widespread storm chances (60-80%) are expected on Friday, with additional storm chances lingering throughout the weekend. Severe weather will be possible, so ensure you monitor the forecast throughout the week. Thankfully, it won't be quite as hot, with high temperatures in the 80s each afternoon.
