When I went to twain (5 years ago) it was awful. Middle school is never fun, regardless of where you go, but there are several things about this school that make it particularly terrible. The talent system leads to a massive academic and social stratification, which means that your friends consist of the people in your talent. The administration is stuck in some sort of time warp, where you will get scolded for things like not standing for the pledge or being openly LGBT/non-binary. This style of teaching, as well as the academic environment left lasting mental health scars that I feel to this day.
And the teachers.
The teachers at twain are probably the worst part. I had an extremely politically conservative social studies professor, who brought politics into the classroom. One of my teachers had a breakdown in class because someone wrote mean things about her online. Another, called a students parents for not paying attention in class one time.
Don't go here.

Mark Twain was a very unique experience. I was harassed on the daily by almost all of the male students. Teachers payed no mind and there have been many over looked assaults at this school. The boys have zero control over themselves. Girls were assaulted all the time. Bullying on an another level. Academics were good and a couple teachers were nice. Math is a a strong suit. 🥰
Mark Twain is definitely one of the best middle schools you could send your child to. The staff make a great effort to ensure their experience is as smooth as possible; senior events are enjoyable and they definitely prepare you for high school and beyond. There are clubs and after school activities too. The bathrooms leave much to be desired, but that’s every middle school. Would definitely recommend!
