Woman airlifted with serious injuries after crash on Fischer-Hallman Road

A woman in her 20s was hurt so badly in a crash in Kitchener that she needed an air ambulance to take her to an out-of-region hospital.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to a collision on Fischer-Hallman Road in Kitchener, between Victoria Street South and Stoke Drive, around 4:15 Monday afternoon.

They said it was a two-vehicle collision between a vehicle and a pick-up truck.

A spokesperson with Ornge Air Ambulance initially reported a woman in her 20s was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital with critical injuries.

An update from regional police, provided on Tuesday confirmed a 22-year-old Kitchener woman was that individual airlifted from the scene. Her injuries have since been described as serious but non-life-threatening.

The driver of the truck, a 27-year-old Kitchener man, was assessed as having sustained minor injuries but was not transported to hospital.

The collision led to a closure on Fischer-Hallman Road between Victoria Street South and Stoke Drive, causing heavy traffic delays.

A police drone was flying above the scene to help collect evidence as part of the collision investigation.

Charges are anticipated as the investigation continues — any witnesses to the collision, including those with dashcam footage, are asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
