What Happens in Vegas

Rate this book
I was a virgin until the crazy time in Las Vegas when I not only slept with my boss, but also got married to him as well. After realizing what we did, he throws me a marriage contract for renewal every year, has me move into his house, and even manage his bank accounts. But it also turns out he has a fiancé. So, dows 'what happens in Vegas' still apply?

Julia Lewis is an intern about to graduate. The only position available is that of personal assistant to businessman Fredrick Draven. He's shrewd and engaged to his co-owner's daughter. When Julia wakes up in her boss's bed while in Vegas, she has no idea how much her life is about to change.

I love the Julia Lewis Frederick Draven love story. The Amazon link provided here doesn’t link to the actual book. Please update the link. Thank you!

I stumbled on this book by accident via a TikTok ad. I had never read from a sight like InkItt before so it was interesting and I’m glad I checked it out! I never read the summary of a book so i went into this one blind (turns out the book being advertised wasn’t actually this one but I trusted the comment section and ended up here 🥴).

I would give this 3.5 - 3.75 knowing this author is still developing their style. In my opinion, the plot drug out a little too long. I think with a really good editor, the writing would flow a little better. It’s a good plot and held my interest but I think there were some writing techniques that would help it read a little smoother and less choppy/cheesy. Certain dialogue needed a little more scene or emotion setting so it didn’t feel as forced or formulaic.

I was surprised by some of the typos but again- I think a good editor could easily clean those up and help take this book to the next level. This was my first time using this app and it definitely gave me an appreciation for what it takes to write a good story. I think this one is well on its way just needs an outside person to comb through and make those minor adjustments!

The plot itself is a 2-3 ⭐️, but this book is so full of examples from a healthy relationship and accurate and real discussions of women’s reproductive health in a way that’s not found in nearly all the other romance novels that exist that I felt it deserved an extra ⭐️ just for that.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book for so many reasons. It defied so many tropes and formulas of romance novels and romantic suspense.

For one, the point of the relationship that would normally be the “happily ever after” in most romance novels happens just around halfway through the book. Instead of figuring out they’re in love and want to be together forever being the end, they spend a good chunk of the book working through realistic relationship issues like communication, secrets, trust, getting through hard times and tragedy together, emotional support, etc.

Another thing that was great about this one is that it didn’t have any of the toxic and unhealthy elements that are typical of romance novels (jealousy, lack of communication, mistrust, some “misunderstanding” that leads to the protagonists mistreating each other, withdrawal of affection, violating boundaries, etc.) It is full of so many healthier examples that contradict all of those unhealthy elements common to romance novels that it feels almost like a therapist’s kid wrote this book. I recommend this book even if one reads it for no other reason than to get an example that counteracts all the unhealthy examples in other romance novels.

For example, at one point, there’s a misunderstanding that could have easily provided 10 chapters worth of drama and tension and anger and agony for the protagonists. A normal romance novel would have done that. Instead, the guy simply brings up what’s bothering him and gets an answer to his question to clear up the misunderstanding. The woman thanks him for being open and honest and up front about what was bothering him and we move on. It was hands down the healthiest handling of a misunderstanding that I have ever seen in a romance novel.

At another point, one of the protagonists is furious with her husband. She does not do the withdrawal of affection thing that a lot of people do in reality and fiction. Instead, she still holds his hand and maintains connection with him while still making clear he has messed up bad and she’s furious and requiring him to address the issue before she moves on.

This is a spoiler so avoid reading this last part if you haven’t read the book yet:

This book deals so wonderfully with issues surrounding a woman’s reproductive health. It uses realistic and accurate detail about things like pregnancy, miscarriage, and sex after a miscarriage. What’s even better is that the guy has healthy boundaries and respect for her boundaries!

Dnf at 40%. I just hate pregnancy tropes. The events that happen also just happen. There’s no real lead towards an event, it’s just there and then it’s over just as quickly.

I initially found an excerpt of this as a sponsored post on Instagram but was able to read the rest on Inkitt. This was a pretty enjoyable read. With a twist on marriage of convenience, low-key grumpy vs. sunshine, and light touch her and I’ll kill you vibes. Basically- it had it all! There was action, suspense and more all bundled into an easy to read package. The one downside was on the romance front for me- while it did the job some of the deeper romance they built ended up feeling somewhat repetitive and a bit surface level. That didn’t spot me from reading most of the night though so it obviously didn’t bother me too much. 😅TW: miscarriage.

This book has been a very pleasant surprise. I thought I was gonna read some force proximity trope mix with the classic “we shouldn’t be feeling this” or miscommunication trope but no, it was all good.

Sometimes you just want to read some story where the couple are actually good people and good for each other. The plot twist was well executed.

And as a final thought, I truly liked that, for once, both MCs where not that experienced towards sex (I don’t quite like when she’s the virgin one and he’s the super experienced guy and they do all within two days, not belivable). Their relationship evolves naturally and I loved it 🖤

This Facebook inspired read caught my attention, and I had to finish it. I'm so glad I discovered inkitt app to finish reading it on. It kept me interested and needed to know what happened. Overall, it was an excellent book that I'm happy I discovered. A little bit of suspense and love mixed into one. Suspense type books are not usually my Forte, but I did enjoy this one.

The story had my attention quickly and I enjoyed it until I ran out of free chapters. The price to purchase coins for the chapters is extremely high. I am not paying 30 or $40 to read a book I could buy for less than 10 if it was available that way.

I stumbled across this book on Instagram and didn’t read anything about it prior to reading. It had a great plot and drew me in during the first few chapters. Has that ever happened to you? You find an excerpt of a book online and get hooked on the first few chapters and then frantically try to find the full copy online? This was that book for me 😂

It’s your typical accidentally married my billionaire, CEO boss while we were on a work trip in Vegas, followed by contract marriage and friends to lovers vibes. There’s murder, mystery and investigating that happens as well.

When I got about midway through the book, I found it repetitive and contemplated not finishing the book. The same things kept happening, and there were a few events that took place in the book that I felt was unnecessary and didn’t do anything for the storyline. A lot could be cut out to make it a shorter, more engaging read at that midway point and beyond. I did end up finishing the book but I procrastinated because I didn’t find myself interested anymore. The ending did wrap everything up and there was an epilogue, so I gave an extra star for that.

1 star for creativity. I applaud all authors who have what it takes to write a book.

1 star for the interesting plot.

1 star for the ending being tied up nicely with a bright red bow.

Would I recommend this book? To be honest, no, there are many others I’d recommend before I even think about this one…

I do need to say that if you are interested in this book please check the trigger warnings first. It is available on an app called “Inkitt”, I read the entire book for free.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the beginning of the book. It is never ok in any circumstance to use drugs on anyone. I did like their love story that grew as the book progressed. I enjoyed the person Jules brought out of Fredrick. I'm guessing if raised in a different environments his feeling and relationships would of been totally different. I loved that he was patient with her. It was a good read in my eyes. I'd like more. What happened to the ex fiance & the baby. What about her bestie and her honey
Right now I'm at 36 and it still shows as an ongoing story.

I really liked this story. However I don’t like the confusion as to the author’s name. Here it lusts the name as CrunchyQ. In the version I read it lists the author as C Qualls. What’s up with this? Because of this it’s difficult to find a copy of the book. It’s not available in book stores, or Amazon, or any other venue. I finally found it under Inkitt.com.

That just goes to show that the book is worth finding and reading. I love the characters and how real they seem.

I love that Julia and Fredrick immediately loved one another and that they got their happy ever after. I knew that it was too good to be true in the beginning, however, I knew it would be a dark family secret and that there was going to be a lot of drama and violence. It definitely kept you on your toes, but it is truly a love cliche story.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was great and the characters diverse, interesting and mostly ;) loveable. The drama, suspense and various relationships between characters made it really enjoyable, and the epilogue was one of the best I’ve read in a while. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

This was garbage. It was interesting enough that I finished the whole thing but it has not been proofread and edited and it desperately needs both. Character names are often wrong to the point that the story doesn’t make sense. The app it’s on is a joke.

I can not find this book anywhere, I came across it on a fb add, which linked me to good reads. None of the linked options from good reads go to the book, and even after scrolling through all the pages I am still unable to find it.
