UPDATE (FEB. 13): The Kern County Coroner's Office identifiedHortencia Garcia De Haro, 30, of Delano as one of the women who died on Feb. 9 on Planz Road in an alleged DUI-related crash.

The identity of the other woman is still pending, but a GoFundMe has been made for her HERE. A family member who organized the fundraiser identifies her as Vanessa Lasarit.

UPDATE (FEB. 12):
One person is dead and two others are hospitalized after a deadly crash in south Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

On February 9, 2024, officers were monitoring White Lane and Hughes Lane around 11:08 p.m. for reckless drivers at a car meet in a nearby parking lot.

Police say officers followed a few of the vehicles and came upon a crash in the 1900 block of Planz Road involving a Chevrolet Tahoe, that had been seen at the meet, and a white sedan.

All three people in the white sedan, identified as women, were seriously hurt.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers were taken to a hospital, with one being released and another in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 25-year-old Arturo Munoz of Bakersfield, was found to be driving under the influence, according to police.

Munoz was also found to have three prior DUI convictions in the last 6 years.

He was booked into the Kern County Jail for homicide, DUI causing great bodily injury, and DUI with three prior convictions.

The identity of the suspect or victims involved have not yet been released.
