Juventus want to sign 'exceptional' Leeds player, he could team up with Weston McKennie again

Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are eyeing a move to sign a Leeds United player this summer and it could see him team up with Weston McKennie once again.

Leeds will be in action in the Championship play-offs this weekend as Daniel Farke goes up against his old side Norwich City on Sunday afternoon in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Carrow Road.

Promotion will be key in determining the future of a number of Leeds players. A permanent deal for Joe Rodon, and the future of Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier, Pascal Struijk and more could hinge on promotion.

The Championship’s Player of the Season, Crysencio Summerville, is another example of a player that will surely look for an exit at Elland Road if the Whites fail to gain promotion at the first attempt this month.

The “exceptional” star has already been linked with a number of big clubs including Liverpool with a fee of more than £30m expected to sign Summerville, whether that is in the Premier League or not.

But interest in Summerville does not only remain in English football, with Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen also interested. Now, a new report claims that Juventus and Napoli want to take Summerville to Italy.

Crysencio Summerville could team up with Weston McKennie

McKennie flopped at Leeds but has returned to Juventus where he has reignited his career, starring for Max Allegri’s side. There is talk of a new deal with The Old Lady after he has laid on 10 assists this term.

Juventus are set to be in next season’s Champions League with Allegri’s men sitting third and Italy set to be awarded a fifth Champions League spot, while Napoli are way down in seventh after winning Serie A.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica claim – as per CalcioNapoli24 – that both Juventus and Napoli want to sign Summerville. But the report says the ‘cost will be high’, although they only mention a £22m fee.

Summerville expected to go if Aston Villa come calling

There have been links with Villa too, with Unai Emery also expected to guide his side to the Champions League despite losing to Brighton on the weekend and Stephen Warnock has given his verdict.

Warnock thinks that if there is a chance to work with a manager like Emery then Summerville will jump at it especially if Leeds do not go up via the Championship play-offs in the next couple of weeks.

It all hinges on promotion as interest from all over Europe continues to grow in him, which comes as no surprise to Leeds fans having watched the Dutchman shine in a Leeds shirt throughout 2023-24.
