I tripped over Chris recently (figuratively speaking) in a record store. I was just flipping CDs in areas of interest and saw 'All The Best'. It got me wondering. So I did a bit of searching online, if you know what I mean, and discovered a treasure trove. I quickly acquired everything. There are some artists/singers who just resonate. And Chris's voice and style work for me. His style? Well, it's eclectic. There's rock (quite soft) and country and cajun and, from time to time, English music hall. In some ways it's no different to the Stones of latter years having one country, one blues, one ballad, etc., etc., on every album. Whatever, tonight I was playing Adventures of Valentine (I bought it a month or two ago). Like all good stuff, it grows on you. Are there hit singles lurking there? No. But there's one satisfying track after another. And those are the albums that I like.
