Synopsis

To gain the confidence of multimillionaire Salinas, master jewel thief Henry Clarke has himself committed to a sanitarium for alcoholics. On the day he is to be released, Henry is approached by the beautiful Fe Moreau. Attracted to Fe and aware that her husband, Richard, is a homosexual, Henry agrees to join forces with the couple. Before tackling the Salinas job, however, the trio perfect their technique by robbing a less difficult house, where Henry rips the safe from the wall and carries it out on his back. While Henry is recuperating from the physical strain, he becomes Fe's lover; and Richard becomes involved with Antonio, a young Italian prostitute. When Fe goes to Tangiers to dispose of some jewels, Henry learns from Richard why Fe is so devoted to her husband despite his sexual inclinations. Years before, Richard betrayed his male lover to the Nazis and then, wracked with guilt, joined the Resistance. To avenge himself on a Gestapo collaborator, Richard seduced the man's wife, an act that resulted in Fe's birth. Later, Richard married her without disclosing her true identity. Stunned to learn that Fe is Richard's daughter as well as his wife, Henry goes alone to rob Salinas' house. Meanwhile, Fe returns from Tangiers, learns the secret of her birth, and rushes to the Salinas mansion to join Henry. She arrives just as Henry falls to his death after being shot by a guard. Richard shoots himself, Fe is arrested, and Antonio drives off in Henry's car.
