Numbers, numbers, numbers... They're important, aren't they? È arrivato il momento di imparare i numeri ordinali, si chiamano ordinal numbers!

I numeri ordinali: 1º, 2º, 3º, ecc.

First (primo) si abbrevia st e si usa per il numero 1 e tutti i numeri che finiscono in 1, ad esclusione del numero 11:

Second si abbrevia nd e si usa per il numero 2 e tutti i numeri che finiscono in 2, ad esclusione del numero 12:

Third (terzo) si abbrevia rd e si usa per il numero 3 e tutti i numeri che finiscono in 3, ad esclusione del numero 13:

Casi particolari

Alcuni numeri ordinali hanno un'ortografia irregolare:

Negli esercizi scriveremo i numeri ordinali sia in lettere che in cifre. Nei dettati useremo il suggerimento "cifre":

AUDIO - Today is the Queen's sixty-second birthday.
- Oggi è il sessantaduesimo compleanno della Regina.
AUDIO (cifre) - Today is the Queen's 62nd birthday.
- Oggi è il 62º compleanno della Regina.
