Lisa Banes was an actress known for roles in movies including “Gone Girl” and “Cocktail.”

Acting career

“Cocktail” (1988) was one of Banes’ earliest films; she played Bonnie, who was involved in a love triangle with Tom Cruise’s character. In “Gone Girl” (2014), she was Marybeth Elliott, mother of Rosamund Pike’s main character. In between, Banes appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, as well as on Broadway. She had recurring TV roles on “The King of Queens,” “Six Feet Under,” “Nashville,” and “One Life to Live,” as well as starring in the TV film “Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?” Banes also made notable guest appearances on TV shows including “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “NYPD Blue,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Them.”
