Cleveland High School Reviews
Rating 3.58 out of 5 384 reviews
Cleveland High School overall is an amazing school and has brought me on my path to readiness for college! However, despite the academic readiness it's given, the school is a mess and is falling apart. One of my friends even got hit by a ceiling tile that fell off! Lastly, the teachers are one of the greatest aspects of the school but are also some of the lowest components of the school, with some of the worst teachers I have ever been taught by. Luckily I have friends and a community around me that supports me so the downfalls of the school are uplifted!
Cleveland has a great community! I am heavily involved with the music program at Cleveland, and am extremely happy with my experience. Our band director is dedicated, evolved, and provides countless amazing opportunities for students. Parent organizations help pay for scholarships for students to attend band camps, or pay for the costs of trips to events like the Western International Band Clinic. Cleveland is a wonderful school to be a part of, and the only major thing that I believe needs serious improvement is our facilities. The old building is part of the experience of attending Cleveland, but there is a point where it becomes less enjoyable and more of a safety hazard. Floor tiles are constantly being pulled up, pipes have caused hallways to flood, and no AC results in classes moving to the first floor due to the extreme heat. That being said, plans for a new campus are already in the works, and until then, I will cherish my remaining time with the exciting Cleveland community.
Cleveland is a good school with a quality student body and faculty and an IB World School. Its visual and performing arts departments have found wide success in recent years, though its athletics have not always been so fortunate. Its facilities and amenities can leave things to be desired, but through no fault of any individual here: it exists within a large urban district and a building from 1929, but provides an enjoyable, modern high school experience.
