Alliance Global Group, Inc.
Company Background
Alliance Global Group is the holding company for Filipino-Chinese tycoon Andrew Tan, a self-made billionaire, who chairs the conglomerate at present. The conglomerate has stakes in property development, liquor, gaming and fast food. Its flagship real estate unit Megaworld is a major condominium builder and claims to be the country's biggest business process outsourcing office landlord. Its liquor unit, Emperador, produces the namesake brandy, which was the world's largest selling brandy by volume in 2013. Emperador also operates vineyards in Spain, and in a move to further expand abroad, the company acquired Whyte & Mackay for about $700 million in 2014.
Meanwhile, its gaming unit Travellers International Hotel Group is a joint venture with Malaysia's Genting Group. Travellers operates Resorts World Manila, and by 2018 it plans to open Bayshore City Resorts World at a Las Vegas-like gaming hub, which is being developed near Manila Bay. Alliance Global Group's unit Golden Arches Development is the master franchise holder of McDonald's in the Philippines.
