San José State University Reviews
Rating 3.63 out of 5 4,376 reviews
The School of Information has many classes that are real gems: fantastic classmates, engaging professors, stimulating and relevant curriculum. Read online reviews and talk to fellow students if you are on the fence about a specific class. The time will fly by so make sure to make the most of every unit!
Academics and student organizations are pretty decent - you can definitely meet good friends in clubs. The dining hall food's pretty good and there was a nice variety of ethnic food. Campus is beautiful. Housing's a little weird. Rooms are nice and roomy but there's no AC in Joe West and there are motion sensor lights in CV2, including the bathrooms. I will say that I wish this school had kinder faculty and employees. Employees are super mean and will go insane if someone is nice to them. Most of the people working at the front desk have no idea what they're doing. No one bothered to program my ID card and I struggled for three semesters getting into buildings. A professor actually initiated a smear campaign against me after I was getting bullied (yes, Regina George esque-bullying) by another student. Another professor offered for me to join her research efforts and then ghosted me. Other than that, I found my tribe through clubs, kept my head down, and studied.
Great, even though I am online everyone I have interacted with online has been great! Even the counselors have been great which is rare.
