From the Back Cover

Steve Harvey can’t count the number of impressive women he’s met over the years—women who can run a business, keep a household with three kids in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. So when it comes to relationships, why can’t these women figure out what makes men tick? According to Steve it’s because they’re asking other women for advice when they should be going directly to the source. In Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, Steve lets women inside the male mindset; introduces concepts such as the ninety-day rule; and reveals the five questions women should ask a potential partner to determine how serious he is.

Sometimes funny, sometimes direct, but always truthful, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is a book you must read if you want to understand how men think when it comes to relationships, intimacy, and love.

The book isn’t easy read you can finish it in a day or two. It’s definitely a unique perception to hear what guys want from women. Though this is the perception of one man I do feel like some things I read from it when speaking to other men, they seem to agree. I got this book as a gift for one of my girlfriends going through a Rough break up, she said she liked it, and it opened her eyes to things.

I am halfway through this book, very enjoyable reading. Steve tells it like it is, I was happily married a long time but my husband passed away. Good information on what questions to ask in the future if I decide to try again. He tells the truth about how men are.

Best book on relationships that I ever read!

I was boy crazy growing up, and I was always pestering my mom: "How do you get a boy to notice you?" "How can you tell when he's in love?" "How can I catch him?" Mom never knew what to tell me. I read lots of books looking for answers. As I grew up, I tried hard to be everything that a man wanted so they would fall in love with me, but they were just happy for the freebies - they didn't want to commit. After many broken hearts, I found Mr. Right and we are happily married.

My stepmother read this book and told me to read it. I said I didn't need to because I was already happily married. She said every woman should read it and she already gave a copy to my adult, single daughter. To make my stepmom happy, I said I would read the book, and I approached it like a homework assignment. I found out it was the BEST book I ever read on men! It answered all those questions that I pestered my mom about when I was growing up.

Other books I read about men were writing by therapists or relationship experts, and they covered things like how to trick a man in to loving you, or how to tell the difference between bipolar or narcissistic men.

This book is written by a manly man who just tells you the truth about what is going on in a man's mind. Just like we know that a dog likes to chase a ball, and a cat likes to chase string, he tells us what is driving a man.

The author is a comedian with a radio show, and he kept getting calls from women who were confused about relationships and the men in their lives.

The premise is like this: there are two kinds of men: those worth keeping, and those not worth keeping. Then he tells you how to tell them apart. It's not about how to turn YOUR man into a keeper, it's how to sort them out from the get-go. It does not matter if he is narcissistic or bi-polar: if he's psyco - dump him.

First he covers what is going on inside of a man in general. What drives them in life, what they are basically looking for in a woman (like support and loyalty), and what they don't want in a woman. These are not cultural desires, but primal desires.

Then he discusses what men REALLY want and, duh, they want sex. It becomes a game of sex with no strings attached vs. sex with strings attached, and he tells you how to win it. If you let him know that he can treat you like a toy, he WILL treat you like a toy, and leave you broken when he's tired of playing with you. If you let him know that you are more valuable than that, he will either leave (good riddance!), or he will pay the price that YOU set: which is respect and responsible involvement in your life.

He tells you what are the five magic questions to ask a man that will reveal to you if is worth your time or not. These are easy questions that can be asked early on. He also tells you how long to hold out and why. This takes the ball out of his court and puts in back in your court. A worthy man will stay in the game.

The last chapter is the best: How to get the ring and tie the knot. I had a girlfriend who was strung along for 15 years. He kept telling her, "We don't need to get married, it's `just like' being married and I will take care of you no matter what". He had millions of dollars and she quit her job for him. In the end, he took her for granted, treated her like crap, and she finally left. (I never did like him or trust him, but she was too busy trying to be "good enough" for him, while he continued to use her.) When she left, he did not give her a PENNY. She was destitute and broken-hearted (and flabbergasted that he lied to her about taking care of her no matter what). I can see that this chapter could have prevented this whole mess. This chapter could have also saved me years of grief too with guys who strung me along with empty promises and treated me like an option, while I tried with all my might to be perfect enough for them to marry me. What a racket. This book tells you how to cut through all of this and make him either cough it up, or you can see that you've been played long enough and dump him.

As I read the book, I would read excerpts to my husband, who is a responsible, helpful man. (I just lucked out in finding him.) He says, "That book is right! And we need to get some more of these books and give them to all the young women in our families".

So clear your shelves and get this book. Put it on a pedestal and shine a light on it. Stop wasting your time and letting the man decide whether to keep you or throw you back. Take charge and YOU do the keeping or throwing back.

This is an excellent little book full of excellent advice.

It is full of what many people might consider common sense (such as don't sleep with a man right away, have standards, it's ok to make him work for forgiveness). However, I think in this day and age of instant gratification, television romance where problems are solved in 30 minutes and simplified relationships- this book might be very useful to some.

I also thought it was good reminder to those of us who think we are in a very comfortable relationship. It was a reminder that what men and women do and think about situations are different. For me it was a little alarm that reminded me to go talk to my husband, be with him, enjoy him and quit getting caught up in the day to day to do list.

I like how Steve Harvey was very clear about things. He would say "this is my opinion..." or "I did this and this is why and this is what I thought about it at the time..." Or "This happened to a friend.." You knew exactly when he was talking about himself, sharing what experts in the field had to say, or giving an opinion. I appreciated that.

The one thing I might say about it is that in trying to explain the male thought process to us and in trying to help us keep relationships healthy and happy by understanding how the male mind might work- Steve Harvey has simplified things. He keeps the book in real language, real words that you and I might use and he tries to keep things simple and easy to understand. This, at times, makes you feel that the male brain is simple and we all know it's not.

There are those that won't need this book or won't get the point of this book. There are those that will really need this book because they haven't learned from previous experience or their momma hasn't taught them. There are those, like me, that will find this book useful as a reminder of what is important.

A good book. I'm hanging onto it and will share it with some of my friends.

'Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,' and I must say, it's an insightful and empowering book. Steve Harvey offers practical advice and valuable insights into understanding the male perspective on relationships and dating. His straightforward approach and candid anecdotes make for an engaging read, and I found myself nodding along in agreement with many of his observations. The book challenges traditional gender stereotypes and encourages women to take control of their love lives by understanding and respecting themselves. Whether you're single, in a relationship, or just looking for some valuable relationship advice, 'Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man' is a must-read.
