The city of Pirmasens will unveil a new tourist information audio guide highlighting the historic American military presence in the town at the former Husterhöh Kaserne today.

The event is set for 3 p.m. at the bus stop near the iconic “banana building” of the former military installation.

The audio guide features stops at various historical sites around Pirmasens, including the remnants of the kaserne now repurposed into German businesses and housing.

The guide, available in both English and German, was developed in collaboration with the Pirmasens Youth Forum and the Pirmasens Historical Association. It is the latest enhancement to the city’s acoustic walking tour, now featuring 18 stops. Each location on the tour is marked with a small stele equipped with a QR code that visitors can scan to listen to the guide.

Retired U.S. soldier Kenny Coleman and local tour guide Gisela Looper, who both lent their voices to the recording, will be present at the unveiling.
